Vending stripe on Brown card

Does anyone put money on this stripe for laundry and copies? Thanks.

I also wanted to ask what the cost is to do laundry in the dorms. Thankfully, it’s been awhile since I’ve used coin-operated washer and dryers!

I venture most people put money on the vending stripes as it’s probably more convenient than dealing with quarters. The money can also be used for printing, copying and buying snacks/drinks from the vending machines.

Brown gives each student $30 worth of printing at the start of the academic year, so depending on your usage you might not even need to pay for printing at all.

Washing is $1.25 per cycle, and drying is another $1.25.

Just be aware that it’s rare that every machine in which one can charge this vending strip is working. If the one at the VW dining hall is broken, I believe the one nearest to Pembroke Campus is at the Bank of America several streets down.

Popping out of hiding for a moment…

Thanks, there seem to be plenty of them. Great map.

Hey, a wolfmanjack sighting! Sweet!

And I used that little vending stripe all. the. time.

Useful for:
*photocopies
*vending machine snacks & drinks
*laundry

The machines to add money are in pretty well-frequented places: libraries, dining halls, etc.

Honestly, I used laundry as an excuse to get rid of all my quarters. So I didn’t use the vending stripe until I ran out about midway through 2nd semester. It’s convenient when you have money on it, but can be pretty inconvenient to put money on (especially if you’re like me, and don’t remember you need to dry your clothing until 2 AM, then remember you’ve got no money left).
