Hey, I got a verification letter from the financial aid office a few days ago. they want proof of any federal benefits (free/reduced lunch in my case), as well as a verification worksheet and a copy of 2008 W-2 forms.

Did anybody else get this letter?

Does anybody know what this means? Might my final aid offer be greater than initial offer? Honestly, my initial aid offer was pretty low, and I was planning on enrolling at Montclair, which gave me a full ride...

But I hope Rutgers comes through, as it's my first choice at this point...

Anastasia312, I’m guessing you are a first year or this is your first year filling out FAFSA because this happens to everyone their first time. Its normal and you should promptly send in all the documents requested for verification.

I forgot to mention that after my verification was processed, my aid went down dramatically… but the opposite could happen to you.

They verify things so that it will match what you entered in FAFSA. If what you entered on FAFSA and what the tax/w2 statements show are the same, then the aid won’t change. Best of luck!

Ok, will do, and yes this is the first time… I’m a HS senior.
And thank you!!
