<p>So apparently I need to rank the 6 colleges in order of preference. I have looked at the UCSD website but still have no clue how to choose them. It seems that the colleges have no relation to the majors? I'm planning to do either Bioengineering, materials engineering, or mechanical engineering.</p>
<p>What makes one college better than the others?
Which is the most popular college and why?</p>
<p>There are old threads about this if you search, but it seems to boil down to different general education requirements.</p>

<p>I suppose I'll go for nerdy Warren as those threads explicitly imply T_T</p>
<p>How's this:</p>
<ol>
<li>Warren (engineering)</li>
<li>Muir? (small GE & writing requirement; more social)</li>
<li>Marshall? (relatively small GE requirement)</li>
<li>ERC (quite a bit of GE's)</li>
<li>Sixth (seems... weird? camp snoopy lol?)</li>
<li>Revelle (because of the super high GE req.)</li>
</ol>
<p>How's this look? I guess I'm kinda debating between Muir and Marshall - which as 2 and which as 3</p>
<p>If you're not going to put Muir as #1 then just put it last. You can't get into Muir if you don't put it as your #1 choice.</p>
<p>Based on your interests I'd do
1. Warren
2. Marshall
3. Muir
4. Sixth
5. ERC
6. Revelle</p>
<p>With this you won't get Muir but you also won't get Sixth. I know several kids who put Sixth as 3rd choice and were put there.</p>
<p>That "more social" crap at Muir is so dumb. I'm in Muir and I've met plenty of nice people at all the other colleges, I even hang out with commuters for god's sake.</p>
