Haha, I’m actually in the opposite position. I’m not a bookworm or a nerd, and I love having a good time, but I am by no means a party hardy hit me up anytime anywhere get wasted type person, and I do not do the drinking/smoking thing (and don’t plan on it). It seems like not having frats/sororities on campus has the opposite effect (compels kids to want to drink/party more), but it also seems like there’s still not a lot of partying going on.
I roamed the facebook page for 2014 and it looks like a lot of people are the party hard type of people. I’m sure its not hard to avoid so I’m not concerned to the extent that I’m going to call the admissions office saying “Yeah…just kidding about that $700 check.”
Will I be shunned from the social scene, and should I start running now or later? (Not seriously of course, lol. But you get what I mean.)

this poor kid, all he wanted to know about was the party scene at villanova. i come from alabama and had never heard the nickname “villanofun” until i had sent my deposit in and joined the facebook group and i honestly had a lot of the same concerns he did. its really not that big of a deal, and to those parents who are responding to him, maybe you should remember your own college years because its doubtful that you spent every weekend holed up in the library.
as for partying at nova, i have an awesome time. like someone else said there are a lot of bars to go to nearby, so if you want to go out on a week night that is always an option. frats or sports teams are always having parties on thursday-saturday and there are even ticket parties in philly you can go to. also, there are so many other schools nearby that partying there for a night is always an option. as for RA’s, they genuinely do not want to get you in trouble; when I was a freshman I lived with a couple ROTC boys who constantly got caught with alcohol. My RA always let them slide because they would lose their scholarships and most likely have to leave school if they were reported. Unless something really serious happens or you get VEMed, you generally can get away with it. RAs are people too. Once you get here (if you are coming) you’ll understand more what we’re all saying here; its pretty easy to get around the rules (which all colleges have not just villanova!)

“this poor kid,” as you describe him, has an attitude problem. It’s not his question that I object to, it’s the insulting tone of his posts.
