Villanova or Pepperdine

i got into a few other schools but im kind of split between the two. they seem sort of similar only i live in nj

go to pepperdine...better location, ranked higher, better academics, better people, better nightlife, better teachers, better food, better athletic facilities, better dorms, better everything

Just a few things for you to weigh. Both are religious affiliated, Pepperdine with Church of Christ, Villanova with the Catholic Church. Pepperdine has required attendance to Convocation (chapel) weekly. Villanova offers services and spiritual involvement, but not required. Both are in small towns near big cities. Malibu is pretty dead, no night life & expensive, Santa monica down the coast has more activity. Being west coast, I don't know Villanova's community.
Pepperdine is a dry campus, no alcohol, regardless of age.
Pepperdine has a small greek life, no frat houses, primarily service & social.
Villanova has more greek, not sure if they have separate housing.
What is your major, check out those depts. in both schools, talk to dept. chairs (via email is usually a good way to get responses) to get a better feel for their programs.

Cost comparisons, were you offered good aid packages from either?
Good luck and let us know!

I'd do Pepperdine. More well known, as good and maybe even a little better academically. Beautiful weather, campus and students.

Religious?
A. Yes
Like to drink and party?
Yes: Villanova
No: Pepperdine

B. No
Can you tolerate religion that affects campus rules?
Yes: Pepperdine
No: Villanova

I live just 15 minutes away from Villanova, but I'll be attending Pepperdine next year. Villanova is more of a party school and is less isolated than Pepperdine. Its close to the KOP mall (2nd biggest mall in the country), downtown Wayne and downtown Phoenixville, and Philly is nearby. Also, its close to NJ, if that's an issue. Both schools are in rich neighborhoods; crime isn't much of an issue. Both schools are good academically, so it really depends on the kind of environment you want.
I'm sure you'll be happy no matter what decision you make, but I hope you decide to go to Pepperdine. It'll be nice to have someone else from the east coast there.

think long and hard. can't help but think pepp has more of a rep for being a pretty schoool and less a good school.

nope pepperdine is a great school, in the top 60 in the country...ranked higher than villanova... not that ranks mean a lot, but the academic programs, location, etc. are superior

I agree with giob. Pepperdine is a top 55 school with an amazing campus, location, weather and students. Go to Pepperdine hands down.

Pepperdine is underrated in the east, but I'm sure it is more well-known in the west.
