I'd like to major in anthropology..even though Villanova doesn't have anthropology i was wondering if there are classes in the core requirements that touch on anthropology or if there is another major very similar to it. Also, i'm interested in pre-dental which neither schools have but have "societies" and support for it. Umiami seems like it would prepare me better as it has one of the top medical programs in the country, however i got better vibes from the community at Villanova overall...very confused.

In conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Villanova University offers students considering a career in Dentistry the possibility of completing both the Bachelors degree and Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in a seven-year program.

Students spend their first three years on Villanova’s campus where they will study along with other Villanova students, majoring in either Biology , Biochemistry or Comprehensive Science (BSC).

Like Ulysses has posted Villanova does indeed have a dental program and from my understanding is very strong and competitive. Medical and dental are different, although you will most likely take the same core sciences (gen chem, bio, etc). Are you considering medical or dental?..Miami does have its own med school which opens up a lot of opportunities for good research/internships etc while villanova does not…however, I do not know how strong Miami’s actual science classes are and if they will prepare you to excel on the mcats. I think both can get you into med school or dental school though.

Right Brave Ulysses, but that would mean I would have to major in Biology, Chemistry, or Comprehensive Science which I do not want to pursue since i would be taking those courses anyway. The reason I mention Miami’s medical school is because as Nova2011 said it would provide me with many research internship opportunities for Dentistry. Villanova would probably be able to provide internship opportunites as well, right? But then there’s still that interest in Anthropology…oh Villanova.

Villanova does an unusually good job with providing students with internships…villanova has a center for undergraduate research and internships which I would encourage you to check out. If you really enjoy anthropology and nova and miami dont offer that, then perhaps you should look someone else for college…also, while Miami does have good medical research opportunities, I think villanova would have better dental ones because of its dental affiliate program with Penn.
