VIP application

Don't know, lauralice, but you could call and ask them. It couldn't hurt.

My son got a VIP app last year....(applied, got in very quickly and easily, went elsewhere) I assumed it was from the PSAT score/natl merit reference....that's when lots of similar offers began to appear. There must be some list they take names from for these offers- he got them from a half dozen schools...I think a list probably came from the college board or other central place that generates and compiles student stats (accurate or not).

Has anyone heard yet? Last week when I called they said 2-3 weeks so I should be hearing soon!

Has anyone heard from UVM yet with a decsion for fall 2008 entry?
I submitted my vip app and am still awaiting a decision.

My son sent his in around Ocy 26 so hopes to hear by Thanksgiving. They said 3 wks.

My son is was admitted yesterday, it was posted online. We are happy for him! It is now time to take a road trip.. any suggestions on things we "must see"? Dorms, food? He is undeclared, but interested in Science. I have heard good things about the science program at UVM. Good Luck to everyone waiting!!

Thanks for posting that, as it caused me to check online to see that I had been admitted!!!!!
Thanks again and Congrats to your son

Congrats to you both!

Of course, when you visit, dorm views are a must - now that he's been admitted, he has to look at the school as "Is this a place I want to live for 4 years?" It's a different mindset than when you're visiting to see if you want to apply. See if your s can sit in on a class or two. And walk down the road a bit to downtown Burlington, to the pedestrian mall area. That's where kids spend a lot of their off hours!

Last year, UVM had an Accepted Students Day during February vacation week - that's when we went to visit. It's a great idea to see the school in the depths of winter. They'd just had a huge storm a couple of days earlier, and it was bitterly cold. At the welcome gathering, one of their male a capella groups performed. They were all there at 9 in the morning in their tuxes - and workboots due to the slush! That's when I knew that the kids there had some degree of common sense!

How long from when you sent your VIP application in did you see your on line admittance?

My son sent in the VIP app, all related items were sent soon after. It was 20 business days from the date the online status showed "complete" that the decison was posted. Good Luck!

ha i got offered the VIP application with only a 1210 SAT and a 2.7 gpa (however i do go to a good highschool in CT)

i just submitted it. i doubt i'll get in but whatev. did anyone else send in a graded paper rather than writing an essay??? i sent in my junior year paper on the electoral college

I heard about two weeks from the date that my vip application was complete with all components. I didn't expect to hear until the 19th of Nov. Hope that helps.

My d sent a graded paper rather than a new essay last year, and she was admitted.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday. :) I probably won't end up going there if I get any money from my top schools, but it feels good to be wanted.

MIA

How long ago did you send your application in?

Sorry it's taken such a long time for me to respond, but it's been a busy week. My school requires me to send my app in (through guidance 9 days before the deadline...so I gave it in around Oct. 22...it probably got sent within two or three days.

I applied by the 11/1 deadline using the common app, but I received the VIP app in the mail yesterday in the mail. Is it worth applying again with the VIP app to get my decision sooner, or any other advantage? Or will it just be weird to have two applications submitted to the same school

fyi...i didnt take ACTs so it couldn't be based on that
I'm OoS for UVM and my SATs were 1410 PSAT/NMSQT was 1330. I dont think they sent them to everyone with a certain score, or anyone that had expressed interest, i think they pay the college board for contact info of a given amount of students that scored within a certain range on the SATs.

rocafelton, call UVM and let them know about the Common App v. the VIP app. They'll let you know what to do. Don't send two applications without talking to them.

alright thanks. I'll give them a call tomorrow when the office is open
