Virginia Tech Fall 2015 Transfer

Some records for future applicants: No hokies bird for this year (2015). We Priority Review applicants got our verdicts on about Feb 6, 2015 9AM

ACCEPTED!!! IMMA HOKIE!

I got accepted too. That matriculation fee is pretty steep though, just saying.

For those who got accepted, can you please post your stats???

This is one of the schools I will be applying to in the future, would love to see what my chances are?

@pologirl13 I’m a VCCS student transferring to the college of engineering with an associate degree. I have a 4.0 gpa. If your a VCCS try to get your associate degree first before transferring I think they look highly at that.

@pologirl13‌ I’m a VCCS freshman.
4.0 GPA and going into Tech to major in Political Science.
I was in IB/AP classes in high school, so I’m transferring in with about 44 credits.
I work two jobs so no ECs.

Congrats to all VCCS that got accepted to Virginia Tech on Friday. As a students from an in-state 4 year university, I will be getting my decision later. So does anyone on here approximate when 4-year university transfers get their decisions?

According to threads, last year they heard around the first week of March! @transfervt4evr‌

Thank you so much for replying and please forgive me for this late reply.

My fall courses are

GPA : 3.75
Calculus 1 (A+)
Computer Science 1 (A+)
Physics Mechanics (B-)
Eco (A-)

My current Winter course

Calculus 2
Computer Science
Introduction to C and linux
Eco 2
Linear Algebra

but during my fall course of uni I finished chem grade 11 and physics grade 11
currently finishing grade 12 of both.

And LOL I m not 100% sure about sharing my story on here. But Im wondering if this actually could benefit my chances of getting in.
When I was in grade 11 of my high-school year. My mom and my sister left our family, and I was suddenly left alone in Canada. So my grades in grade 12 dropped seriously. However right after graduating highschool I got my mind right retook all the courses that I didt do well, and additionally took more courses for general engineering. Im currently finishing my last grade 12 chem + physics.
I had to overcome language barriers along with cultural differences, I just hope my story can benefit my acceptance in some ways

Also please help me understand how does US universities count their credits? Why is taking 4 university course same as 12 credits??? 0.o??

@Happenandahppens‌ typically classes are worth 3 credits each. So if you’re taking 4 classes you would be taking 12 credits (3x4). Some classes are worth 4 credits while others, like labs, are worth 1.

First week of March can’t come soon enough…

Hello guys!! This is my first time on this thread but I am also hoping to transfer to VT in the fall! I’m currently at a community college in Pittsburgh so I’m assuming my decision won’t come for a while but I’m so anxious!! Congrats to everyone accepted!!

Hey @aml111‌ ! What are some of your stats??

For those who are transferring regular decision (first week of march): Is everyone’s application status updated? Because mine still says that they haven’t received my high school transcript which I already sent over a month ago stressing out

@frogsinribbons5‌ mine still says that too, so I called and they said not to worry about it and that they had received it just hadn’t updated pages yet

@ashleydawn‌ well my high school GPA was a 3.9 with lots of APs and things like that. Last semester I was at a small performing arts college majoring in musical theatre (if you can believe it) and got a 3.8 there but I decided that wasn’t what I wanted to do so I went to CC for this semester so I could take real classes for credits! I’m taking two sciences, two English, psych and computers to catch up! Thankfully my hs math credits got me out of math classes! I have to send in my midterm grades for Tech so I’m super nervous but I’m also a legacy and have good extra curriculars so I’m hoping for the best!

@frogsinribbons5 I really wouldn’t worry about it, we actually aren’t even required to send in our high school transcripts until after we are offered admission (same with ACT/SAT scores). Weird though, my page updated 4-5 days after my college sent my transcript to reflect it
@aml111 sounds like you have a very good shot, good luck!

you know how on the status page it usually has that paragraph that says like “please give the admissions office 4 weeks for your transcripts to be updated” blah blah blah. Well I’ve had that for like 2 months now (I’m transferring from a 4 year), but then they just took it away. did anyone else have this happen? I still haven’t had my high school transcript spot update, but I called and they said that they had received it but hadn’t update status pages yet. any ideas guys?

@aml111‌ You have good stats! From what I’ve seen Tech determines acceptance based off of credits and GPA. So if you meet the basic requirements (math, science, English) for you major, you have a great shot!
