Virginia Tech Transfer 2013

@collegebra: think i’m going to call tomorrow. I just realized that the gen ed requirments state 2 sciences + labs that are the same, and i did Bio last semester, chemistry this semester. so that may result in my rejection. I want to call and ask about this and any information about more decisions i can get, i’ll let you know.

@collegebra I called earlier this past week to make sure they didn’t need anything else from me after I sent my midterm grades…the guy on the phone said it didn’t look like a decision had been made for me yet…so now I’m just (impatiently) waiting

@rottenapples- Last year when I applied, I had finished a mineralogy class and was working on Bio 101. I was rejected because I hadn’t done 2 levels of the same transferable science, aka Chemistry 101 and 102, Physics 101 and 102, or Bio 101 and 102. That might answer your question.

yeah that’s what i’m worried about. I did apply for the summer session I, so I’m hoping they will allow me to take second level chem over the summer, although I’ve read in past forums that that hasn’t worked for other people. still worth a shot, i guess. i do have a high gpa but yeah. i’m beginning to think i’ve been rejected. thank you though :)

JennyK but you applied during your sophomore year right? I think theyre a little more lenient with freshmen for thoserequirements

@collegebra- if I had gotten in, I would have been starting my junior year that fall. They are more lenient if the person is a freshman, that is correct.

i am so torn on whether or not i should be feeling positive about my chances haha

@rottenapples I completely agree… Hopefully this week is good news… If not it seems our chances start to dwindle…

I have a bird on my app, and I did not take two lab classes that were similar. Took bio last semester and now environmental sciences. I am also a freshman

My friend got accepted with a 2.9 and 12 credits lastsemester as a freshman, i dont think the two science thing is always true

@collegebra
Depends largely on your major.

Thats true, i hope we hear something this week

i was feeling good until i realized i applied as a chemistry major haha. haven’t called them yet but am still planning to, and i’ll let you know what they say as far as the next wave of decisions go.

yes let us know if they tell you anything! hoping that the rest of us will hear some (good) news soon

uhh so i just called them about the science thing, and they asked for my ID number and said they’ll call me back in 3 days. as i was asking about the next decision wave, i was LITERALLY hung up on.

i am not calling ever again haha i don’t think they like being called.

uh oh! sounds like whoever you were talking to was angry they couldn’t be outside today enjoying the weather…maybe I’ll call tomorrow and ask when the next wave will be

lol good luck to you! hopefully they are more receptive to you than they were to me!

Does anyone know when people who signed up for the waitlist to live on campus will hear whether they’ve gotten a spot on campus or not?

I’ve heard on-campus availability announcements are sometime in May, after all the freshman are committed/taken care of.
