I'd like to start virtual school over the summer just as a fun thing to do and keep occupied as well as get ahead.
I'm thinking of doing Marine Science (which should be a breeze) and AP English Lang. (Just finished English II Honors, my school is really small with no APs) but I obviously won't finish these classes during the summer.

Is it advisable to take 2 online class during my Junior Year as well as sports and volunteering and working? Or Am I gunna burn out?

Are these FLVS classes you're talking about?

I'm taking AP English Lang on FLVS, and I hate it. But then again, I hate English in general. :/

2 classes over the summer seems manageable, even with all the volunteering/sports/working. Just don't get behind pace.

I'm taking AP Macro and AP Micro over the summer.. it's definately possible.

I took abstract algebra over the summer and it was going along perfectly until I got back to school and doing the homework became more of a pain in the butt. I'd finished like two-thirds of it, had an A and everything, but then I stopped caring and failed the class. It was a really fun experience and taught me a lot about abstract algebra and prepared me really well for my first year at Caltech :) And I didn't have to report my grades on my college apps because they weren't getting sent to my high school transcript, so colleges had no clue I took the class.

So that's pretty much the worst thing that can happen if you burn out -- you end up doing a lot of work and not getting credit, which is great if you're doing the class for fun but pretty sucky if you really just want to boost your resume. (Well, unless FLVS automatically sends your grades back to your high school, in which case you have to be more careful.)

I'd say go for it.

yeah its FLVS
so this will be added to my GPA at school? how will that affect my ranking?
hmm. maybe i'll start English AP over Christmas break or something
I guess it depends on how long it takes me to do Marine Science.
I want to take the AP test for English next spring.

FLVS classes will count just as regular classes do at your school. The grade weighting also applies to AP and Honors courses. FLVS course transcripts are usually sent to your school once you finish the semester, though sometimes it may take a while to process.
