Vision 2014

Hello there, my S was invited to attend Visions this year Feb 16-18. He's very excited and already RSVPd and purchased plane ticket. Does this means that he has a very good chance of being accepted? What are the chances of getting a scholarship?

this has all the info - looks like he is a great match for Rice though admission is not official as yet. Congratulations to your son

Congratulations to your son. I was just selected to be a part of vision too. So excited!

He’s right now on his way to meet his interviewer. Good luck:)

Both my daughters were invited and went to Visons weekend. Loved it and had fun. Interesting enough, while sitting in on a class a prof pretty much told the group that the fact they were invited to Vision was a pretty good indication they were accepted. Don’t know it that’s true but it was great for them to heard that from a prof.

Congrats on being invited to Vision 2014. This means that they have a high probability of getting accepted, but not necessarily receiving a merit scholarship.

Vision indicates that Rice is very interested in you and wants to show off to you as well. It is a chance to let prospective students experience aspects of Rice and see if Rice is where they want to be.

Good luck!

Thank you everyone

I haven’t responded to my Vision 2014 invitation yet, but is it worth the trip? Truthfully, Rice isn’t very high up my list, but will visiting Rice change my mind in any way?

did u get the invite by email?

@Shutterstock, they cover the trip so why not go? You don’t know until you experience it
@bostonmom, yes we got an email

I would visit if it isn’t a big deal. Rice is very similar to other top schools in terms of academic quality but very different in terms of campus life, size etc. See how you like it and then make a decision!

If I am unable to attend will this hurt my chances of admission?

I doubt it. I would write to Rice saying you would love to attend and appreciate the invite, but cannot due to xyz.

I didn’t get an invitation and now I’m slightly worried. I saw they expect to host 200 students. Well, have fun to whoever goes!

I decided to decline the offer, but now I’m worried it’ll hurt my admissions chances.

The reason you declined the offer was because you aren’t interested in attending Rice, isn’t that correct? However, I believe that if you did attend that you would likely change your mind after you see how awesome Rice is :-).

If you cannot attend, you cannot attend and Rice will not hold that against you.

Why did you decide to decline the offer? Lack of interest or other reasons? An overnight visit to ANY school is the best to experience it.

Looks like there are going to be 273 prospies @ VISION according to an e-mail sent out. I’m a host, btw.

Don’t worry if you didn’t get invited, only very very few are.

Nice!! What year are you? Did you also go to Vision?
