Is anyone else headed to West Point on 24-26 January?

great time to go! - Should be about 2 feet of snow and a high of about 10 degrees.....;) dress warm!!

Seriously though - have a great time. Is this your first visit?

Yes - hooyahmicah you will be visiting at the height of gloom period - very different from SLS in the summertime.
If I remember correctly you have your heart set on USNA - Good luck.

hooaymicah,

Have a blast! I sure wish I could visit again.

JAM,
I surely hope so!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE cold weather. Every year here in Texas, from around 1 March to 31 Jan I want to kill myself as the temperature rarely dips below 70. Sixty on a coooold day. I desperately miss the seasons and white stuff from Tennessee. It is my first visit. I've been to USNA thrice, but never to USMA. Unfortunately the weather was warm-to-pleasant at USNA, so I'm greatly looking forward to Yankee weather at USMA :)

Ann,
I can't wait! And yes, my heart is, indeed, set on USNA. I've got to make sure I take my non-descript coat to USNA instead of my Navy coat and beanie...and shirts and pants...etc, etc, etc. :-p

hm,

It has been known to happen before. Candidates want one academy for a long time, but apply to others. Then visit another and fall in love - with the campus, opportunities, snow, students, classes - and then change their minds about their priorities.

Keep an open mind and have fun.

WP has its own snowboarding hill and club(s).....

Good point, boulderhikermom. How many schools can say they have their own ski slope? Or US Mint, for that matter? I'll also never forget the first time our family saw the view from Trophy Point, wow.

Hooyahmicah: Just remember to shout "Go Army, Beat Navy" and you will be fine (getting that mixed up may get you some attention) ;). Have fun and let us know your thoughts when you get back.

I was looking at the ski info yesterday....around $100 for a lift ticket for the whole season! That is so cool! Not that there's much time, especially plebe year, but there is so much to do on that campus!

You will be visiting when the Cows are celebrating 500th Night.

Yes, after years of ingraining and indoctrination, that will definitely be difficult to get that flipped in my mind. It's so odd, though. Besides the actual meaning, GABN just doesn't flow as well as GNBA. I keep thinking they're saying 'Gahrmy, Be Navy!'

Since USNA rejected my waiver and some nomination strings may be being pulled for USMA, I'll definitely be paying more attention to this trip than I had planned on.

And I'm pumped about the hockey game. Absolutely pumped. GO ARMY! BEAT AIR FORCE!

I can say that without any hesitation or reservation whatsoever :)

Hooyahmicah: I'm sorry that your USNA goals will not be met this year. It sounds as if you have some soul searching to do so that you can make the right choice for the right reasons with the options you have....Good luck.
