Visit tomorrow!

Hey guys!
I'm attending UVA next year and am visiting the campus/Charlottesville with my fam tomorrow.
Do you all have any suggestions for what we should do/eat there?
Thanks in advance!

I think there’s a Days on the Lawn Event going on tomorrow for the Echols scholars. So there should be a fair amount of people there. When my family visited (we brought my dog :)), we walked throughout campus, walked through a few open buildings, and enjoyed the outdoor environment there (it was a really nice day). Plenty of places to sit outside (and many people were), and also plenty of things going on inside. As far as Charlottesville, there are lots of places to go and eat. We ate on the corner at an Irish pub (don’t recall the name) outside, which was nice. Finding good food should be no problem. I was really impressed by what I saw, an I am definitely excited to attend next year. People were friendly, beautiful campus, plenty to do, what’s not to like.

Oh cool, yea I’m going next Friday for the day on the lawn…
I wasn’t chosen as an Echols Scholar but do you think it’d still be ok if I visit tomorrow?

Congratulations and have an awesome time!! UVa is beautiful this time of year! I was there last week and they were getting ready to welcome you :). For eating, on The Corner, sandwiches at Take it Away on Elliewood are the best and a favorite of locals, and ice cream at Arch’s is wonderful!! If you have questions, just ask a student. They are more than happy to help.

Nice I’ll be sure to visit both! Thanks a lot!!

No worries. I’m so envious you are spending the day there! We will be doing all of those things that you do in your Jr. year to be a competitive applicant :). Soak it all in and just look forward to next year. Use it as incentive to hold on for a few more weeks and keep your grades up til graduation! lol
If you are looking for UVa spirit, the book store on campus is great, but there is also a student book store on The Corner that has a slightly different selection and may not get sold out of everything as quickly on a heavy traffic weekend (not Mincer’s…not a fan, sry). Again, congratulations!!
ps. Just so I don’t seem so creepy, we don’t stalk UVa purely because my son wants to go there… he’s spent summer programs there. We actually don’t live too far & the kids have grown up doing fun things in and around C’ville. Your family will love it too!!
