Could anyone suggest a cafeteria where we all can dine in there? Thank you.

Sorry should post it on U Chicago thread, but I could not delete it.

OK, not sure why you are sorry, but you can use cash or credit at any of the three dining halls.

I thought I posted it somewhere else. So it is U Chicago thread.

The bartlett dining commons on the corner of 57th and University is a good place to start. One can use cash or credit.

South Campus!!!

South Campus and Bartlett are very good options. Avoid Pierce.

hey, pierce is pretty decent (mongolian grill is good). It’s just not nearly as awesome as south.

South campus!!!

All visiting students get a free meal ticket to any of the three cafeterias if they come on an official tour and information session.

my favorite is pierce, with bartlett a close second and the south campus. this is from a kid whose assigned dining hall is south campus.

^Basically, as long as you alternate between dining halls, you’re really getting the best of all of it. The only reason one may be worse than another, in my opinion, is that they always have the same things. So going to different dining halls is a solution.

Due to the bad weather, we did not go.
Thank you all for the suggestions.

Went UChicago on Wed, it was a smooth trip. Personally I did not like the environment of the University, it is too crowded. But my son loves it. He loves the University in general. We did go to South Campus Dining Hall, the food is great. We were surprised that they have Kosher.

Too crowded? What made you think that? I’m just curious.

Well the campus can get kind of crowded looking during passing periods between popular class times. Maybe you saw Cobb at 11:25 or something like that. Overall I wouldn’t say it’s crowded, I’m bothered by it being deserted more often than I’m bothered by crowds.

I am sorry, but it is a widely accepted view that Pierce still has the best campus food, and its staff is just so friendly. It may not have the most variety, but it definitely has the best quality.

Coming from a person who used to live in Max.

May be the word “crowded” was not proper to describe the whole campus, but I felt the buildings are too close to each other. There were a lot people on the street across the hospitals. The South campus Cafeteria was very crowded. We saw quite a few nerdy students in the cafe, eating and reading, workind on the laptop, doing calculus, that is the part my son really likes. He knows the students there are serious, not horse around.

Haha this description makes me laugh for some reason. It’s kind of like the University of Chicago is a zoo, except in place of animals eating, playing, and fighting, you have ‘nerdy students’ eating, reading, and workind on the laptop.

I had to laugh as well. Not long ago I was showing some people around campus when one of them turned to me and said, “I can’t believe all the students we see reading books.” I still get a chuckle out of that.

I like the BoothGSB atrium for the zoo atmosphere.
