Visiting Campus

Does it help in the admissions process if I take a tour of campus (regular decision applicant)? Not that I wouldn't visit campus if it doesn't help me at all - just curious! And I've never taken a tour before, so I don't know whether they even note who's taken one or not and I really don't know anything about the entire demonstrating-interest-in-colleges business.

And how much does not having an interview hurt me?

Judging from what's been posted thus far, not having an interview should not hurt your chances provided you requested one but didn't make the deadline, especially if you live in SoCal. And yes, they will note that you took a tour if you decide to visit campus through the Admissions Office.

Good luck!

How far after the deadline can we make requests? :S I didn't bother requesting due to the fact I live abroad in a country where I know no alumni would be, so I figured it futile. Then my gracious admissions counselor notified me that it might be a good idea (well after the deadlines, to my delight).

Thank you for your prompt response! I'm glad I can at least show interest through a campus visit!

I tried making a request in mid December but was told it was past the deadline (December 1).

You can still visit the campus, but the interview deadline is long past. :(

They actually don't take note if you went on a tour.. only if you had an interview (and I think if you attempted to get one and were put on the waitlist).

I think there's a guestbook in the admissions office - don't know if they even look at it during the admissions process, but it doesn't hurt to sign it.
