Visiting Case

Hi All,
We're heading to Cleveland tomorrow to take a look at Case. We're doing the standard tour and info session. Any advice out there for us, on things we should see other than the usual? Where should we eat lunch? Any info would be appreciated.

It is a really lengthy tour. Wear comfortable shoes!

There are alot of cultural institutions around University Circle, and it would be worth taking note of them.

I'm the mom of a current Case Soph...Be sure to ask around where to eat lunch...we didn't and took off driving forever in the wrong direction :) When we took the tour (4 years ago?) we just ate lunch in the Thwing Center (their student union) because we wanted to get a feel for the students there...(There were different choices of fast food like subs etc, but I'm not sure if its still like that..) There are lots of places to eat close by (Quizno's subs is close down the street) and Little Italy is close too...Coventry is about a mile away, but is technically walking distance, its kind of an eclectic shopping area and there are nice places to eat up there. I recommend maybe printing off a mapquest neighborhood map before you leave home because it can be a confusing area to drive in if you haven't been there before...

If you are trying to make a decision about the school, definitely eat on campus (Twing, dining halls, or places on the quad) to see what the food and students are like.

There is wide selection of off-campus options in the area within walking distance. Little Italy is quaint with actual sidwalk cafe's etc. There is a nice restaurant within Severance Hall also. There is parking underground at Severance; you walk up and you are right at Twing & the library.

As far as where to eat:

Thwing now has a Wackadoo's resturaunt...I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for the typical campus dining experience. If you're looking for a snack, there is a coffee/snack place called Pura Vida in Thwing (I think they may have salads and the likes there, but nothing that is enough for me for lunch :-) ).
The basement of Tomlinson has a Subway and other options. I often see staff/faculty eating there and a fair number of students. If you're tired after the tour or don't want to walk all the way to a dining hall, that would probably be a good option.
The main floor of Crawford hall has a new place called the SAGES cafe....I haven't been there yet, I think it's more of a snacky place.
On the quad there is Grab-it in Sears (which you can only use meal swipes for...nothing special, just sandwiches, chips, fruit, and cookies). In Nord there is Einstein's bagels, which is quite popular for lunch among students.
Leutner dining hall on Northside is probably the best representation of campus food (all you can eat, lots of choices). It's the larger of the 2 dining halls and has the most variety. I haven't been to Fribley since they renovated it this year, but that would also be a good place to eat if you don't want to trek back to Northside.

Thanks everybody, we're off to Cleveland in a few minutes! Hope D likes her visit!
