Visiting for a couple days... what to do?

Hey.. so I'm visiting this weekend from Sunday to Wednesday.. any suggestions on what to do?

The Discover Stanford program is a great option. You get an info session and a tour. If you already applied, you can skip the info session. I recommend looking up classes. You can basically just go to any large-ish lecture class (40+ students) and if you want to visit smaller classes just email the prof, explain that you're a profro, and ask if you could observe their class. I bet most profs will be happy to let you attend their class. (Some introductory seminars in particular might be fun to go to). All the guides in Hoover Tower are students, so you could go there one day and talk to current tour guides about their experience at Stanford. If possible try to spend the night in one of the dorms. For tourist-y stuff, Cantor Arts Center is pretty cool as is SLAC (SLAC has tours every now and then that are open to the public). You could also ask to meet with various profs. San Francisco is a lot of fun, and it's probably work taking a day to visit the city. Hopefully that helps!

Events this weekend that could be fun:
Fleet Street Concert (AMAZING acappella group) Sunday at 8PM

Awww...julyinoh! You're missing the bay area earlies meet-up by ONE DAY!!! :(

If you came on thursday - Saturday there would probably be a bunch parties to go to. I don't enjoy them myself but alot of people here do.

Definitely check out some classes (Tuesday and Wednesday). Check out the Bulletin http://bulletin.stanford.edu for course listings and Axess for times and locations (click "Search for Academic Classes"). If you're around from 11-12:15pm, visit Psych 1, which is a great class for everyone, no matter what your prospective major is. I think Bio Core is at the same time.

Visit the dorms, see what they're like... if you can, come by at night so you can see people socializing. Even if there are no parties, people chat with each other or watch TV in the lounge. It will be nice to see what dorm life is like.

Check www.gostanford.com to see if there are any sports events; gymnastics, basketball, and synchronized swimming are some of the awesome sports that are going on right now.

Oh, and go up Hoover Tower if you can; it's really neat to see the surrounding landscape.

I'm not a party kind of guy.. and I forgot to mention that I'm staying with my gf, who is a freshmen there, so someone can show me around..

High up on the list is the gym.. oh I hope it's sunny! I hear weather's crappy right now.

Go to the Fleet Street show!!!

And as others have said, drop in on a class or three. I recommend Fate of Reason (IHUM).

It will also be Tree Week. If you want to see auditions, try the Band Shak at noon Monday, or White Plaza at noon Tuesday or Wednesday.
