heyheyhey,
I am trying to figure out when to visit KP, and it looks like a good time for me right be jan 5th or 6th.

winter leave ends jan 4th.

the rules for scheduling an overnight visit are like this:

you cant visit...

The weeks immediately before and after trimester final exams.
The week of trimester break and the first two days after midshipmen return from the break.
The weeks of the winter holiday break.
The period from the Friday before memorial Day weekend until the middle of August.

It looks like Winter break isnt actually the end of a trimester, so the 2 day trimester break rule wouldnt apply, right?

Taffy - you should be good to go on January 5th/6th. Sure ya wanna go in the middle of the "dark ages"? Its gonna be cold! :) Are you planning an overnight visit or just a day tour? Maybe you can get with one of the guys on here and have them request to host you. Jamz will be posting on here as soon as some of the testing is over and you can talk with him about what goes on during the visits. I know he has already had one guy shadow him around on a day visit. He saw a high school senior from GA on the list so he requested to host him. So I know that they can do that. It will be great that you have the opportunity to go for a visit. I'd highly advise it.

yeahhh itll be cold, but if i decided to accept an appointment, i wouldnt want to be suprised by the cold weather... plus i never see snow here!

seeing as im going all the way across the country, i think id have to go for the overnight.

I wanna shadow somebody that does some of the following: soccer, martial arts, or crew. Being a marine transport major would be a plus. Was it jamz that did all the martial arts? somebody here's kid does i think.

Why would ANYONE want to come here? ... Kidding. It's an awesome place. Yeh, I'm back after all the indoc stuff and what not... and three tests and what have you as of today.

Any Deck major would be good for you, Taffy... but you wanna come here with an open mind (so they say, I was already decided logistics my sophomore year of high school :D) because they have some great engine programs too. As far as soccer goes, we have a good team this year... but you'd best be in SHAPE. These guys do a lot of conditioning and its hard to make the team if you're not FIT. Crew guys have to get up at like... 0400 (4 am) to go practice.. but then they get rack-in for a little while... until colors I think. Martial Arts club is getting started right now... I'm looking in taking Aikido -- but the other guys are prolly going to go towards Kick Boxing and stuff... I prefer the traditional arts... so I'm the oddball out with like 2 other plebes who want to do Shotokahn Karate and Judo XD ... So they may make an exception for us -- but the Martial Arts lessons will be coming out of our own pocket -- the academy doesn't really endorse it TOO much.

Winter Leave is probably midway-past midway of plebe year... so you will see what it's like when it's in high gear here. If you have any questions, my aim is Orbital Lore. I'm almost always on... heh... except when in class... but anyhow. Off to answer more posts or something... l8tr

That's cause the USMMA Plebes have it goin' on. They have air conditioning that USMA doesn't and a chocolate delivery service that USNA doesn't have. And now, we find that they have AIM in addition to myspace. But can they beat your crew team?.... Thats the big question! I'm iffy on that one.....

We've been following your exploits and are very proud of you - along with some confused southern mom who keeps saying "Go Navy, Beat Army". Congratulations on completing the indoc stuff. Now eat some chocolate and git ir done.

Well. We have an eagle. A WWII Nazi Eagle prize. It's back up on our flag pole. And we have the Kings Pointer... because you know... Tall Ships like the USCGA Eagle are great -- but they just don't seem to compete with the new vessels nowadays. You know. Those diesel engine ones? That don't need the wind to move them? :D

And we take the train to New York City. And from there, the subway to anywhere in the city. We may not have a liberty van, but we can definately go get our license and drive the vans out for TMs and the like. I'm part of the alpine adventure club.. all we need is someone to drive the van and we can go with approval... off campus.. so long as it's a Team Movement, it's fine.

I'm sure mama's been telling everyone about me and what not... I can assure you that ONLY the good things are true :D ... I swear, she probably lives on the computer to talk at you all :) ... Our crew team is pretty good, I'm not gonna lie. And I'm pretty sure we beat coast guard this past weekend -- at least that's what they've been announcing at lunch. Our football team got its first win the other night... .... so they'll need to pump up their iron in order to beat USCGA. But honestly come on... we're merchant mariners -- not groundpounding army people =P Why would we need to play football? Our waterfront teams are the best around :) Sorry USCGA. ... But in all honesty, I may be comissioning into the USCG after graduation... considering it, at least. So I shouldn't downplay it too terribly much =)

J and JM are ganging up on me...I GIVE UP!
Just kiddin...Jamz good to hear from you. I admire you and your mates at the MMA...a great school and a great service! We'd welcome you into the CG with open arms! See you in '09!

"I swear, she probably lives on the computer to talk at you all"
Jamz. Shouldn't you be in your rack? Don't you have some brass or shoes to polish? A kilt to hang up? Bahhhh.
Boss, the Vice Admiral has brain-washed my kid. A few short months ago the Eagle was 'AWESOME". And if I were you, I would sit right beside Jamz at that game and woof down four hotdogs and as much soda as you can stand then sit back and grin at him.

And hey Boy! You know the rule. You can pick on anyone Army. Nobody else. Go to bed.

You go girl...send that swabbie to bed...or whatever you call him...btw late in the game against Norwich a guy came out with a tray saying "Free hot dogs." I thought he was jokin...I scoffed up a couple.

YIKES!! ooooppppps not you. I meant Jamz! HA! HA! HA! HA! That was tooooo funny. It wouldn't let me post for a full 60 seconds for some reason. New automated computer is trying to do me in. Thanks for the info. Will check it out tomorrow. GO Gamecox! Yep. still works ok. Just checking....

Ok no problemo I knew who you was talkin' about...will chat manana...one last thing:YANKEES BACK IN FIRST PLACE! Had to get that one in... The Big Unit GOT R DONE...

I am rolling in the floor here. That was hysterical! Thats what I get for a show of public affection! Ya'll stay outta this one! Not one word, ya hear! HA! HA!
