Hey everyone..I'm finally getting to Penn State the weekend of the 3rd (dec)
Are there any suggestions besides the obvious?

Check out the town right off campus and some of the shops! You should also get some Penn State ice cream.

Penn State ice cream?

Yes, they pride themselves on making their own ice cream right from their cows. It's good!

Or, there's always the Cold Stone Creamery in the town which is probably the best tasting ice cream you can get.

Go with the Penn State ice cream, not the Cold Stone creamery. penn state's ice cream is very good, inexpensive, and big portions! YUM!

PSU just beat MSU :) that means we reppin Big-10 and are going to a top4 BCS bowl :)

Joe Pa deserves it

Any great restaurant suggestions?

I second the ice cream thing..go to The Creamery, awsome ice cream. If you like peach, try Peachy Paterno..it' great!!!
We didn't check out any restaurants, since they gave us a ticket to have lunch in their dining room. It was nice to be able to check out the food, which was pretty good.

try The Deli....there is something for everyone. And The Diner for grilled stickies! Absolutely go to The Creamery to try the ice cream.

Thanks for all suggestions everyone...looks like I'm havin" ice cream that weekend!

The town is small, but student-oriented. I'd get some Creamery ice cream, and stroll the campus if you have time after. It'd been cold (...winter. duh.) lately, so come prepared. See if there's anything happening at Eisenhower Auditorium if you have the time, and if you're so inclined, explore Pattee and Paterno Libraries.

Hey - I hope you enjoy your visit! Just to let you know, the campus will be slightly quiet this weekend b/c its a THON canning weekend, so a lot of people will be on canning trips, but its usually tons of fun. When we won @ MSU and Miami lost later in the evening, there were literally hundreds of people in the middle of Beaver Ave screaming and yelling, it was amazing. I love this school
