We are visiting UD soon (WITH a car, pls ignore previous thread about visiting without car). Is there a best location, to get a real feel for the campus? Is there a particular direction where there is “student life”? Any particularly good or bad areas ? thanks!
There’s a Courtyard by Mariott literally ON the UD campus. PLENTY of student life around as they are right in front of a bunch of dorms. On the other side of campus, where the athletic fields are, are a bunch of hotels including Hampton Inn, Spring Hill, Wyndham (I think). Cross the street to the other corner and there’s a Red Roof and Super 8. PLENTY of choices. You can also go near the Christiana Mall area. Google Hotels Near UD and you’ll get PLENTY of options.
As an alternative, and likely cheaper option, Check out hotels in Elkton, MD… 7 mins drive from UD campus, most of them.

When my kid goes to college, maybe I’ll turn his basement room/apt into a UD Come Stay B&B kinda place… LOL. I could probably make bank. I’m within walking distance 
The Spring Hill Suites on 273 is probably the newest of hotels BenniesMom1 mentions above. It’s not ON campus per se, but very walkable to the main drag of Newark. The Courtyard is on campus, but in a residential area of campus (Indy, Pencader, etc.).
When my kid was at UD, I often stayed farther afield, like Christiana/Bear/Elkton…just to save on $.
