Hi, Has anyone stayed at the Ramada in Newark Delaware?
Is there parking for visitors on campus to tour for Fall 2011?
Any stories you'd like to share about visiting UDelaware I'd love to hear!!

Well, you’ll probably get a range of opinions. Here’s mine:

I’d choose to arrive late afternoon, check into a hotel on either Main Street or South College Avenue, and spend the evening walking Main Street and the campus between Main Street and Park Place. That will give you a good idea of the commercial center, plus the main academic buildings which are primarily on the North Green and South Green. Before your tour the following day, check out Trabant Student Center and International House (which organized study abroad during Winter Term). It wouldn’t hurt to visit the Honors House, which is on Main Street opposite North Green.

And if you haven’t already, check this out: [Visit the University of Delaware](<a href=“Experience UD | University of Delaware”>Experience UD | University of Delaware)

i would check the web site tripadvisors. we have stayed at the marriot on main st. which was great. we have also stayed at the hilton, embassy suites which were fine. I would not recommend sleep inn, it was horrible. the sheets had blood on them, and because housing was gone, they could only get one sheet!

My son goes to UD so I’ve stayed at a couple of hotels in the area. The Marriott there is very nice and run by the UD Hospitality students. I’ve also stayed at the Homewood Suites on South College Ave over by the football stadium, which is very nice. It’s a suite, so if you’re staying a couple of days you would have a fridge. Be careful of staying at the hotels/motels right off 95, it’s a little loud. The only hotel I’ve seen on Main Street is a Super 8. I personally don’t like staying in places with no interior corridor. Let me know if you have any other questions.

OP: The Ramada is fine and far enough off of I-95 to be quiet, but it’s not within walking distance to campus, as some of the others are (which bestmom and dkitty mentioned.)

Don’t stay at the hotel on campus, it’s far more expensive than anything you will find about a five minute drive away. There are several large parking lots/garages on campus that I’m sure will be utilized for tours in the fall.

Hi There,
I can’t give you advice on hotels…but I did graduate from the U of D. I was from northern NJ and loved it! I have been back to visit a few times and even went on a tour with a friend of mine’s daughter. I think it is a very beautiful campus and a very manageable size. I would put it in the medium range…because it is just so easy to navigate. All classes are on main campus while housing is located on North, East, West and main. I spent my first 3 years on main campus and loved it there. My senior year I was an RA on North campus. That was great too! If your child is interested in Engineering, especially chemical… than it is highly ranked for that. I was a Consumer Economics major and took classes in Human Resources and the Business School. I graduated a long time ago…but could help you out in a few areas that I am sure have not changed too much.
