How was everyone's visit? I liked most of Sunday tours and information sessions but didn't really like the overnight as the admitted students seemed to be left to themselves. Anyone else? What did you like or not like?

Ah, just noticed, sorry! Did you sit in for classes? What did you think of the dorms? Were you able to speak to the professors? What was the general atmosphere (before Sunday 5pm XD)? Did yo u get to dine there? What’s the surrounding town like?

And finally: Are the toilets clean? (this is how I gauge the niceness of schools/colleges XD)

A lot of questions! I really really wanted to go :(

We visited both new dorms and old dorms. Some dorms were run down (to me) but others were nice. They have antique furniture in most of the old dorms and some have seen better days.

The toilets I saw were clean. In the suites they clean their own but in the non-suite dorms they are done by housekeeping.

I didn’t get to dine with the students which I had hoped. But I understand there is a lot to choose from. I tried to get some food at Blanchard Student Center but it was pretty expensive. They did not plan for us to have lunch on Monday even though many of us were going to afternoon classes so I was pretty hungry. I would have liked to have met my host and had her actually be there and go to dinner in the dorms with her, but that didn’t happen. I also would have liked to have had lunch. I didn’t have much money with me because I didn’t expect to have to pay for anything. I really wanted to sit in on afternoon classes so I skipped lunch.

I liked one of the classes very much. The professors were nice. Everyone was nice but there were definitely things they could have done better for the visit.

South Hadley is very small and rural. Amherst is bigger with more to do and Northampton is a good size with lots of restaurants etc.

Thanks very much for this info!

When you talk about toilets in the suites, do you mean en-suite bathrooms? I thought the dorms only had common ones?

But it kinda sucks about that whole ‘your host ditching you guys’ and not being able to have lunch…They should’ve told you exactly what to expect.

It doesn’t sound absolutely fantastic, but it sounds nice anyway Thanks for sharing!

I had the best time I loved my host, the classes were awesome, and I met so many engaging prospectives. I was a little shaky on the school when I went in but now I’m positive its like the perfect school for me :-)

Wow. I wish I had that experience. Since visiting MHC I have contacted several schools to see if they can increase my fin aid to the point where I can go and have accepted a place on the wait list at two other schools. I’m glad you had a good experience though!

ready2011: I feel the same way about South Hadley as you do. I’m enticed by the idea that there is “always something going on on campus,” but I’m not sure if that’s enticing enough to get me to go. I just worry about isolating myself for 3 years (I’m a transfer, as my username suggests).

I had a question: Did anyone have a chance to eat lunch in one of the dining halls? I only had lunch at Blanchard and I wanted to know what the other dining halls offered. Thanks :)
