Hello there! I’m pas de bourree, and I’m really interested in the University of Michigan, and I’d like a more in-depth look at their vocal performance program. This thread is essentially what the title says: What’s it like in UMich’s School of Music, Theatre, and Dance for vocal performance students? It would be nice if you answered the questions below! Also, feel free to talk about things like selectivity, auditions, interviews, resumes, etc.
-What is the atmosphere surrounding the community?
-Is the program really competitive, and if so, does this bother you/other students?
-Do you frequently get to interact with students in other programs in the school, as well as students outside of the school?
-Are there any collaborative performances? (i.e. vocal performance with dance/band/other students)
-Are you dually enrolled in another school (if that’s possible)? What are some pros and cons of doing such?
-Do you sing a wide range of styles, or is it largely operatic/classical?
-Prior to your acceptance into the school, did you have any vocal achievements like All Region and All State choirs?
Thank you so much for taking the time to check this out, and sorry if I seen uninformed. I’ve done some research on the School, but I haven’t get found anything that answers those questions.
Also, sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I’m new here.
