VT or VCU for Pre-med

I’m very confused about where to go. I’ll probably major in chemistry or biochemistry with a concentration in pre-med. I don’t know whether to go to Virginia Tech or Virginia Commonwealth University. VCU is more organized in the medical area, but Virginia Tech has a better reputation. I believe VCU may give me more internships. Idk about VT, is there internships and volunteer experiences available for pre-med students? Is there a lot of pre-med students at tech, i feel like everyone is there for engineering. Some information on Pre-med at VT would be nice or your opinions about where i should go. Personally, I like the feel of VCU more than VT, but is VCU’s feel worth it to sacrifice for VT’s prestige? Can you please help me make the right decision. Your help is appreciated.

Med schools won’t give a rat’s patootie about VT’s reputation. If you think that you’ll have better medically related EC opportunities at VCU, then go there. No med school is going to chooe a VT grad over a VCU grad simply because they went to VT.

@mom2collegekids thank you, I’m thinking of going to VCU and switching majors to biomedical engineering, didn’t know this major existed when I applied, but I don’t really know if it’s possible! The bme program says that 95% of their students get into medical school so it seems this would be a better undergraduate program than VT!
