VT Waitlist as of April 27

From the NY Times:

Number of Students Placed on Wait List: 2,400
Expected Class Size: 5,187

Could be worse, I guess. Some schools have waiting lists of 5,000+ for an incoming class of around 1,400, and several state schools have waitlists nearly double the size of the anticipated 2011 incoming class.

^ The more important number will be the number of students that accept the WL offer, as well as the initial yield from the acceptances made (ie are they even going to their WL this year). Last year they did not. I believe the economy is still a large factor, so yield may again be hard to predict.

In '09, they put about 2800 on the waitlist and about 1800 accepted a spot on the waitlist. They took about 800 off the waitlist that year. Son was one of the lucky ones that got off the waitlist . Being waitlisted is no fun but sometimes it does work out. Good luck to those that were waitlisted!
