rhythmia,

If you aren’t admitted to Cal Poly before May 1st, you’ll have to submit the SIR to another school before then. If, later, you’re admitted to Cal Poly and choose to go there, you’ll have to revoke your SIR at the other school (and lose your deposit…) and enroll at Cal Poly. It’s an awful system.

How the hell did they waitlist you. W, TF

I was placed on Waitlist for 2 days before they accepted me.
It’s possible to still be accepted! :)

Based on GPA and SAT/ACT scores alone, it seems that those waitlisted are more qualified than those accepted. Could Cal Poly SLO be purposely waitlisting stronger candidates for some reason?

AG3000

This was supposed to be my “saftey” school. Wow. Dude are you surprised?

@Synclair

Did you do anything to get off of the waitlist?

General question for anyone:

If I had a mistake on my application, could this have lead to me being waitlisted?

The mistake on my application: I put 4 major courses were in-progress/planned, when in reality I had only put 3 in-progress/planned on the portion of the application were you list the courses by name. The 4th course I listed was already completed with a letter grade, but instead of putting an “A”, I made the mistake of putting “IP”. Could such a mistake be the result of my being placed on the waitlist? I have a 3.77 GPA and all major pre-reqs complete with IGETC certification and some good ECs.

They do not take into consideration fall 2011 grades. The odds of that being the reason you were wait listed is slim.

It was not a Fall 2011 grade. It was a course I completed Spring 2011. I listed it “In Progress” and it was completed with a letter grade.

In other words, there were 4 courses listed in progress for my major related 2 section of the application, but only 3 courses I had listed were in the section “College Courses” where you list planned/in progress courses by name, thus creating a discrepancy between the Transfer Supplemental section of the application and the College Courses section.

Could that (or being a low-income family) have anything to do with being waitlisted?

I got my answer by contacting the admissions office, so no need to reply.

@Synclair

Did you do anything to get off of the waitlist? And was this for this year? Did they email you and then once you filled out the survey they removed you? :smiley: I’m very anxious! I am sorry for spamming this thread, but whenever you get a chance synclair let me know what happened as I would GREATLY appreciate it

Dubbledubb What did the admissions tell you ? I have a similar situation where I accidently posted a GE course (intro to ethics) as planned and forgot to put my major course Macroeconomics which is required. So it doesn’t show that I’m taking Macro for Spring 12 and instead that I’m taking a GE course which I’m not since I finished that area ?

Thank you

I got waitlisted for industrial engineering…
stats are:
WGPA:4.1

SAT:1540

ACT:23

Full IB diploma candidate
5 on Ap calc BC and 5 on AP Physics B last year.

You think i still got a chance?
Also, you think any people would choose another school over cal poly for industrial engineering?
(asking that, just so i have a higher chance of taking their spot, hahaha)

They told me that it had little impact on my being selected because I had listed the course so they knew I was going to take it. The fact that I earned an A, however, was not taken into account, so my major GPA may have been lower and thus I may have been waitlisted as a result.

I’m really worried about my mistake not showing Macroeconomics it can be very critical for the admission.
