W and Audit ?!

How many W you guys have?
And how many Ws are okay, and how many Ws are not okay?
Someone says three Ws are dangerous.

And anyone know about audit(N grade)?
It’s similar with W but an instructor says audit looks better than W.
But some college don’t have audit so I don’t know which is better.

@seesee12 I once wanted to withdraw from my English 102 class, but my advisor advised me it was better to complete it than having a W (I do not remember her reasoning) she encouraged me to retake it which I did.

@aabdin03 I heard similar things.
If you can get B, it’s better than W.
What was your grade?

@seesee12 I had a 2.6 originally and I retook it( got a 4.0).

@aabdin03 2.6 would affect your GPA a lot.
Anyway you got 4.0 later, so it is okay.
Do you know anything about audit?

@seesee12 Not much just that W and Audit is seen the same for some Universities, thus depends on how UW views it.

Both a W and an audit looks bad. They’d rather see a bad grade and then improvement than W’s and audits. Any advisor or instructor would tell you this.

@seesee12, I found this online:

“In evaluating transcripts, we look not only at your grades, but at how many courses you have taken each quarter; circumstances, such as employment or activities, that may limit the number and types of courses taken, and the difficulty of each quarter as a whole (insofar as we have access to that information). For example, do you take balanced yet challenging course loads? Are you pursuing honors courses? Negative elements might include a pattern of repeating classes, multiple dropped, withdrawn, or S/NS courses, or selecting schedules with overlapping content.”

@CompSci18 Thank you
CS major seems very competitive.
Applicants can be rejected because of less classes per quater and some drops, even if their gpa is 4.0.

Oh, right! Sorry, I sent you the CS dept stuff. Forgot they are more strict than other departments.

@seesee12 I have 3 W. Yet I explained why in my personal statement (I went through some really tough personal stuff that year and even dropped to part time one semester).

@seesee12 Did you withdraw from any classes or audited or retook any classes?

@aabdin03 I don’t have. I wanted to changet to audit one class in this quater, but I didn’t change it.
