I know we have a thread going on William and Mary Admissions, but it seems like it should have been titled Monroe Scholars Admissions. I thought it might be helpful if we started a thread for the non-scholarship applicants. For ED it was really helpful b/c people shared info on when letters were released, whether or not e-mails were sent, whether or not they were accepted, deferred, etc. I sure wish we were in the shoes of the Monroe Scholars -- congratulations to all of them!

Regular decision letters likely won’t be mailed until April 1 or a few days prior so there’s still a bit of waiting to do.

For W&M Admission - With about a week till 1 Apr you still can’t say exactly what day the notification letters will be mailed out? Are you still making decisions at this point?

if they were done making decisions I’m sure they would be mailing them tomorrow =)

soccerguy315: I’d say thanks for the reply, but my question wasn’t directed to you, but rather to W&M Admission.

that’s funny, because W&M Admissions, in the post right above yours, said that they will be mailed April 1 or a few days prior.

And then you asked if they knew when the decisions would be mailed, when you just got the most up to date information.

Hopefully the applicant in your household 1. is not a dick, and 2. has better reading comprehension, or they will be getting the small envelope for sure.

soccerguy - that was not very nice for a student from W&M. vaparent is new to CC and is likely just an anxious parent. Everyone needs to relax, whether you hear today or a week from today, it does not matter in the long run.

soccerguy was just trying to be helpful. It seems that W&M Admissions only visits the board every week or so, so had he not answered, then you would not have received any answer in a reasonable time frame. Everyone would do well to be reminded that this is the internet and its easy for innocently intentioned posts to sound belligerent.

I think soccerguy was trying to be helpful and vaparent’s question was a little silly but let’s not call someone a “dick”

Soccerguy was trying to be obnoxious and he succeeded.

And I’ve got to admit, it doesn’t look very good if you can’t tell on March 23rd when decisions are likely to go out over the next eight days.

I’m not sure any admissions office knows when they will be done. I’m sure the last few are the hardest! If you set a hard deadline (other than an absolute ‘you will hear by this date’ for the sake of the students), then you are at risk of rushing what may be one of the more important decisions in someone’s life. Furthermore, you don’t want the completed packets just sitting around the office for a week before mailing them out.

The end is near. Let the green flair flow Henry.

Good Luck to all, and remember, “No matter where you go, there you are”

As we get near the end, I have to say the W&M Admissions office is one of the best. Nice acknowledgement email, cool blog and responding to many questions on CC.

As a frequent stalker of this site let me first say that Soccerguy has always provided insightful and timely information to this site. For VAparent - yes it may be difficult at times to convey the appropriate degree of politeness via a few sentences on an open blog but all the information provided is a courtesy extended - I would suggest that you read back through Soccerguy’s posts on this site - he provides a tremendous amount of good info. As for expressing surprise at “With about a week till 1 Apr you still can’t say exactly what day the notification letters will be mailed out?” - it is a huge undertaking and it will not be done until, well, it is done. Perhaps all the decisions have been made, but there is still the process of putting everything together - a project of this magnitude cannot be rushed or presented as half-baked. We are all under pressures - other schools are sending out - information seems to fly at incredible speed - much like taxes - there is a date, get it done by the date and nothing will be held against you - April 1st - the date isn’t being pushed back or changed - that’s the date. Christmas will not be moved earlier because all the shopping is done and neither will W&M admissions letters.

Thanks for the blog link, initiatelaunch! W&M’s admissions office is fantastic and I give them a lot of credit for trying to calm our anxiety as best they can.

bostonvillanova - I agree. The admissions folks here put a face on the process like no other. Their sensitivity to the stress/anxiety we are all experiencing really comes through.

phanatic, you are most welcome. And don’t give up on MI. Government Motors won’t be Gov Mo forever.

Heres to hoping Dean HB sends some green ink our way in Western PA!

I’m hoping for some green ink in Western MI!

And I’m definitely not giving up on this state. I love it so much. We can’t be in the economic doldrums forever. Maybe by the time I’m out of college, things will be better. :)

I haven’t received an admissions decision yet, but financial aid called my house last week asking to refax some paperwork because it didn’t go through clearly. They told me they would be sending the financial aid award letter soon. After faxing it again, my dad called financial aid to make sure they received the fax; they told him I’d be getting the award letter soon too.

Good sign?

i’d like to think that this is a good sign!!! good luck!
