I applied as an international student for JHU BME and I got wait-listed....

How realistic is an acceptance after a wait-listing especially for BME?
JHU was my dream school and last year students from my school who did much less academically and extracurricular wise were accepted but I have been waitlisted ...

I am devastated ... I already confirmed my decision to remain on the list but I am still nervous ... Can I still have any hopes?

Honestly, it is too early to know. No one, including the admissions staff, knows what percentage of accepted students will enroll. The number of admissions offered is based upon their best guess of what the yield will be. If they guessed correctly or underestimated the yield, then there will be few if any admissions offered from the wait list. If it turns out that the yield was overestimated, then some people will be offered admission from the wait list.

Looking at past years is of little help. Some years, no one gets off the wait list. Other years, quite a few are offered admission. My advice is to accept a position on the wait list, but mentally prepare yourself to attend elsewhere.
