waitlist/bme question

i applied to jhu as a bme major, but was waitlisted. i was really surprised, because my guidance counselor/all those collegeguidebooks (that i now realize know nothing practical) told me that i had a more than reasonable shot--or at least getting admission to the school, if not to bme. i was further surprised when i was admitted to columbia seas and cooper union, but not jhu, which i thought were more selective.

i really wanted to pursue bme (it's only a minor at cooper), because i believe jhu is THE school to do it at. so does jhu admit waitlisted applicants to BME?

is it worth remaining on the waitlist? not to sound stuck up but could it be that i didn't show enough interest in the school/they thought i was somehow overqualified (which i seriously doubt)? i just want to know before i send in that card and potentially occupy a spot from somebody else

how do you think i should proceed with the situation?

Some good questions here. The decision to send back the blue card and remain on the waitlist is your decision and should be based on whether you want to still consider JHU as a school to attend. You will need to understand that there is no guarantee that spots will open up, and as well you will not learn of any waitlist decision until after May 1st -- so it is important you choose a school to attend.

As far as the BME waitlist question, students admitted off the waitlist whose first choice major was BME will be offered a spot in the general engineering school and not into the BME major. The spots in the BME major have been secured by the students admitted to the university and BME during the ED or RD process. So an admission to Johns Hopkins off the waitlist would be to the University but not to BME.

Good luck with your decision.
