Wait-list Statistics at Yale?

Yes, I can imagine that the choreography would present a great challenge.

Yundi Li’s recording is excellent, as is Kissin’s. I also like Cziffra’s (dazzling technique; check out his Grand Galop Chromatique).

Anyone know if waitlist admission is need blind? Also when will the first people be alerted and the when will we have a better idea of how many will be admitted off list

Yes, it is.

I think it was around May 8th last year, so it’ll probably be the same.

I think 932 waitlisted. I don’t depend on it. Commit to the college you like.

thanks, anyone know if they use/need third quarter grades. i hope not :/

I hope not too^… eugh grades this time

when do they release the majority of waitlist decisions? mid may, end may?
i’m wondering because i’m not sure whether i can get my ISEF results to them soon enough…

also, where did you guys all send ur supplementary material? just the yale undergrad admissions office??

Last year they took very few kids, but the year before I think they started coming around May 8th.

I sent my packet to the admissions office, but I did not call or anything to confirm that that was the right place to send it.

As a waitlisted applicant, anyone know if we can still submit art portfolios, maybe not professionally but just to set it out there, a couple paintings and drawings?

I have a question…

I am an international student, and as far as I know I am the only one wait listed from our country. But there is this just one loser :stuck_out_tongue: guy who got into both Yale and Harvard. Today, I found out that he has chosen Yale.

So, I’m wondering, since he has made this decision, will Yale even consider looking at my application again (I’ve sent strong material in April - which I assume MIGHT improve my chances) OR would they just reject the app because they now have a student representing my country already? And then, will I be the total loser with no university to enroll :P?

i think u were just waitlisted in case that guy doesnt go…srry

I seems like maybe their eventual wait list picks will be random and we have no idea how they will decide. The only things that could work in our favor is if the yield is lower than expected but I’m not sure if it will be.

I think so 2 kelloggs…

Just finished the supplement with the audio CD in my hand right now. I hope it’s not too late since I spent a great deal of time on the two songs. I’m also adding a letter addressing the music and another advocating my interest and determination to Yale.

Bluecoast, if Yale is like most colleges, and I suspect that in this respect it is, the waitlist picks will be anything but random. They will be targeted to fill perceived needs. The picks might appear to those of us on the outside to be random, but those on the inside will know better.

Watchthis, your right and I actually should have rephrased what I said. I meant that I’m guessing the picks will be all over the place and not make any sense BUT they will make sense to admissions

@ricochet: It makes sense that they take from the WL according to perceived need. However, you belong in the international sub-pool, which IMO, gives you a better chance than the general US pool, because the latter is larger.

Good luck!

Not necessarily. Proportionally, it’s all the same (roughly).
