wait list

Has anyone heard anything about the wait list, if it will be used?

Schools are beginning to notify students off their waitlist. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

has anyone heard from smith?

Yes, someone on the MHC 2010 community got in.

Anyway, I heard from an alum interviewer (who gets updates) that this year only six students are being taken off the wait-list. Yes, it is being used, but it's as if it weren't being used.

Sorry to disappoint.

Who got in, begoodagain?

begoodagain, do you know if that person was given a call?

baristagirl, i too was wait-listed and i asked whether she could find the information out for me. she did and she got back to me this morning, saying that as of now, only six students are being taken off the wait-list, but that it will not close until july... so there is still a bit of hope, but it seems as if it will stay this way.

and momwaitingfornew, zetabee at livejournal got in.
http://community.livejournal.com/mountholyoke_10/13934.html

It looks like zetabee is a first year, so she is talking about the first year waitlist. Cereus is an Ada and baristagirl and my DD are late applicant transfers. So one shouldn't really draw any comparisons as cereus, zetabee, and baristagirl are competing for different spots.

ohh, oops, didn't catch on to that all were transfers.
i wish your daughter the best of luck unsoccer-mom. i'm hoping it works in her favor. & i hope the rest of you also get big envelopes from smith. :)

I got a skinny envelope saying that the Ada waitlist is closed and that, although there will be a few students remaining on it, I am not one of them. It's fine as I had already cemented my decision to attend Simmons anyways--it was just a formality.

The six students that were admitted--was this the first year list?

Also, Sid Dalby said that there were 70 deposits for (what Smith advertised as) 65 spots. Was a sort-of waitlist used, somehow?

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that, but glad that you already have other plans in the works.

Also, Sid Dalby said that there were 70 deposits for (what Smith advertised as) 65 spots. Was a sort-of waitlist used, somehow?

They always offer admission to more applicants than they have spots for because they know that not all of them will attend. If at least 65 students had not made deposits, then they would have gone to the wait list.

Good luck at Simmons! Is there any chance that you may apply again for next Fall?

looks like 5 more here accepted than they planned!

i am definitely not going to apply next year-i had already decided on simmons, even after how badly i wanted to go to smith, because of so many reasons, the very least of which being they will allow me to cross register at mass art and pick up my photo degree while working on my simmons degree as well!

are you a waitlisted ada?

Sounds like a sweet deal at Simmons! Congratulations.

I'm a current student at Smith and I love it -- almost wish the summer was over so that I was back there -- almost. :-)
