Wait-Listed

Hello,
My name is Andrew. North Carolina State University recently put me on their wait-list. Does anyone know any techniques that could help me be one of the people picked from the wait-list? Last year around 100 of the 900 wait-listers were, later on, accepted to the university. Any tips, tricks, or wait-list experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Andrew

Nothing…

Out of the people accepted, only a few will decide to go to the college. The adcoms will check how many people are definitely going attend and see if their freshmen cap isn’t full. If it is full/a lot of accepted students took the offer, then all the guys in the wait-list will get rejected.
If there still is room, then they’ll take the best X* number of applicants in the wait-list.
*Number depends on college’s Total Freshmen Cap Size - Amount of accepted applicants actually planning on attending on Fall

Please look at the parents forum. There are a couple of threads on this subject and yes there are some things you can do on it. Those threads are more exhaustive.

Make sure that they know that you are interested. If you have an updates, make sure they have that. Make sure that they get your final transcripts.

Thanks, I will check out the parent forum.

Some colleges (I don’t know if NC State is one) track demonstrated interest and may factor that into it. In that case, sending them updates on ECs and stuff would help. Otherwise…nothing you can do.

I didn’t find anything in the Parent Forums, but I did find an article on College Confidential that provided advice.
