Waiting for Groton decisions--March 10th!

@AmbiD77 8th :)

@AmbiD77, are you applying to any other schools? I’m just applying to Groton for eighth grade.

@AmbiD77 8th :)

@grotonguy im applying to HADES and Groton

Howdy, y’all! (I don’t usually say stiff like that, this whole WAITING thing is getting to me :))
What do you guys think your hook is? What things separate you from other applicants? Time to brag, buddies!
I think that my maturity is very high, if I may say so myself. My interview wet very well, or at least I think it did. :)

I think the fact that this is only my second year living in a non-third world country, and
that I speak an uncommon language are my hooks. Additionally, not to sound conceited, but I feel I’m very well rounded :)

That’s so cool!! You don’t sound conceited at all! I said to brag your heart out! :slight_smile:
I agree. I think I’m well-rounded too. And my recommendations, at least the ones I saw, were very good.

I have no heart…

Hahahah here’s what I guess I have:

I speak a lost Chinese dialect that can no longer be written. So maybe that offsets the whole Asian thing. I speak a total of 4 languages conversationally and English being the only one I could write a philosophy dissertation in.

High quality volunteer stuff. Got promoted up the ranks so I guess that shows “leadership” skills. Dedicated Buddhist and if I wasn’t going after all of this stuff, I’d be a monk. Religious figure nevertheless. I mentioned some other places that I’m the board association for Buddhist Education. Docent (fancy tourguide) for Duke Farms (environmental conservancy). You point to a tree, I’ll tell you what it is.

First doubles tennis. State champion TaeKwonDo. Free throw basketball champion

15 college level classes

I’m also a really good writer.

Second year Mandarin
Lead in school play
Sponsors an African student’s education
Recommendations-very good
One year ahead of grade level in math
My sister goes to Groton (not sure how much that counts)
I think I’m pretty well rounded

@PxAlaska: What dialect? Can you please teach me? I love learning languages that cannot be replicated; it’s like a secret :wink: Please please PLEASE?!?!?!

hahah! I laughed, but sure. Not positive if you’re joking, but if you’re interested I speak Fujinese. PM me and we can talk :O

^ I’m rather offended; did you think I was joking? :-)

I feel like Fujinese is a select type of Japanese, but if I say that I’ll sound like an inadequate imbecile…oh wait.

19 days until the 12th when I’ll probably get my letter!! The date is going from some date far in the future to not-so-far-away…

I’m shooting for the 9th and gonna call it 16 days :D

Why the 9th?

18 days!!!

Some of them arrive on the 9th like Hotchkiss and Choate and SPS. Not sure when Groton’s actually coming out so that was irreverent to the topic of this thread. My bad!

@bsroxmysox it’s a dialect from Fuzhou, China. I get the whole Japanese thing all the time. I think it’s because Fiji…?

That’s what I thought! No problem, be excited for then instead!!
When I hear Fiji all I think of are Fuji apples… Even though I prefer Gala…

@PxAlaska all TSAO schools are on the 9th and groton is on the 10th :)
