Waiting for...

Hi, sorry if this has been posted before but(I'm new here), I need some help. I'm in Canada(Toronto) and I applied to 3 colleges. And I only heard from 1. My friend applied to 5 and she heard from 3 of them(one including the one I got accepted to). I applied on November 26th. When do you think I will hear from the others?

The program I signed up for is ECE (Early childhood education). Is it normal for colleges to look at math courses, especially for this program? I looked at the requirements and they aren't supposed to look at it. Should I call that college again?

Thank you for any advice. Sorry again if this has already been posted.

It's okay. Most colleges don't send out notifications until March/April. You're fine.

I've always wondered why they take so long?

thank you!

bnvc- Some colleges have "rolling decisions". This means that you send in your application, and a certain amount of time later (usually around 3 or 4 weeks), they'll send you a decision. Many but not all public universities have "rolling decisions".

However, some public and most private universities don't have rolling decisions. Applications are due on a certain date, and everyone receives their decision on the same date a few months later.

On February 2nd was the "equal consideration". They last day to hand-in applications. Would colleges tell you if they had a "rolling decision?" I applied to the three colleges that are apparently top ones for my program.

I'm just a little worried that's all.

bnvc - Canadian admissions are generally objective and based on grades and test scores. American admissions are subjective, with committees debating over things such as the value of candidates' special talents or unusual achievements, or the details of crafting a diverse entering class. Also, while Admissions is doing their job, Financial Aid may be working out aid packages for admitted students.

gadad has it right.

bnvc- colleges will tell you if they have "rolling decisions". Check on the individual websites of the colleges you applied to. If they're rolling, you'll get your decision in a few weeks or so. If not, you'll probably get your decision ~April 1.

Okay. Thank you so much!
