Waiting, waiting, waiting!

I am lucky my son has been home when the acceptance via mail arrived and the other arrived in my email inbox…so I was not cheating!!!

I do not trust myself home alone with college mail addressed to my D.

This thread is hilarious! The anxiety intermingled with the posts about whether “D” stands for “dear” or “darling”…or “Disney”! LOL I have a hard time posting “DS” because it reminds me of my early days on AOL in the mid 90’s, and makes me feel so old!

I’m right with all of you on the anxiousness of waiting. I went into this whole thing without a clue as to how it all works. I would come on this board last Fall and get so intimidated and overwhelmed, I would get sick to my stomach. I’m so happy that our audition “season” is almost over, but I’m definitely stressing out about a bit while waiting. Thankfully, my son wants me to open everything immediately and text him at school with any news.

If a fat envelope came I’d try to reach my son at school, but his phone doesn’t always receive texts inside the building. Some of his friends’ phones do, so I could send them texts to tell him to call me, but I’m afraid he’d think someone had been hit by a truck or something. Maybe I should set up a code word?

No, I’m overthinking everything again.

That is so funny, prodesse!

I have permission to open everything, and I really thought I was on top of things, but the last acceptance arrived via email after my normal checking hours and my son texted me from the theatre…which let me know a few things. He is more stressed than I thought if he was checking his college email account while in the middle of rehearsals and he does actually check his email.

I do not have permission to open anything. :frowning: I obsessively check the status pages at her remaining schools, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t where the acceptance will be posted. (Not at first, anyway.) It’s March 1…just 29 more days to go. LOL!

ugadog99 - I don’t have permission either but the other day I was allowed to open a piece of mail but it was from the school she was not longer interested in after Unifieds. Glad I’m not the only one that obsessively checks the status pages. Thank God for email notifications and the few schools that do put status updates!

Actually Rutgers claims that the ONLY way they will tell you if you’re admitted is via their web site. Seems pretty cold. Of course it’s a huge school and Mason Gross is only a tiny part of it.

PRIMAL SCREAM
There…feel much better now. Ok, not really!!!

I went to the mailbox today to see if anything had arrived and used photmom5’s PRIMAL SCREAM as a way to deal with a mailbox with no news. Arg. Any news today for anyone else?

Our mailbox has been empty all week–literally empty except for a Lands End catalog! To make matters worse, our spring break started today, so S will be hanging around waiting for the mail on a daily basis. I’ve made him promise to make plans with friends so he’s a little distracted, but it’s gonna be rough; two of his top schools might start notifying next week. The rest aren’t expected till end of March, though… So I’m joining in on the primal scream!

Times3, we’re having the same problem, nothing is coming through the mail slot except advertising postcards.

It’s so weird to have these empty mail boxes I just told someone that the other day. Since the middle of sophomore year the mailbox had been full of college brochures, pamphlets, letters and now when we want it most there’s nothing!! Luckily my D is still super busy and we don’t have a break at school until Easter…hopefully to go and look at different school options!

My D got a regular envelope from Ithaca today–no acceptance. That’s totally O.K. She has her sights on other programs. It’s just a relief to get an answer either way from schools at this point, isn’t it? We can check one off the list. Six to hear from still. So, I think that the mailboxes aren’t going to remain empty much any more.

Got into Point Park with an artistic scholarship! This is doubly nice as he was deferred from the conservatory earlier and was a bit bummed.

ReserchMom- nice to know but sad to read, I am so sorry. I am seriously dreading the mail from UNSCA and The New School.

photomom5—congratulations on the Point Park artistic acceptance! When was his audition?

Thank you. He auditioned in December in Atlanta, was accepted to the school earlier and deferred to the conservatory in January. He received his letter of acceptance to the conservatory today (along with the scholarship info).

photomom5–Did it say anything on his PointWeb account under the “Our Last Contact With You…” tab about a Talent Scholarship being sent. I’ve read in years past (as recent as last year) that some students found out earlier that way. Congratulations btw!

Congratulations photomom5! Have you heard from Ithaca yet?

@photomom: Big congrats to your son! If that is his top choice, be sure to make a deposit asap! From reading the Musical Theatre threads, I understand there is a slippery acceptance process at PPU: some students who waited to confirm acceptance and make deposit were later put back on the wait list…even though it was still March! In other words, they accept more students than they have spots to fill.
