waitlist chances?

does anyone know the chances of getting in off the waitlist? Like what percentage of waitlisted students end up getting accepted?
For the update: i got a 5.0 gpa first semester senior year and i did some stuff for a club I’m in…

Waitlist acceptances for all UC’s last year. Hopefully this year they will accept more from the waitlist.

Last year 150 people got off the waitlist out of 2,100 people that accepted the waitlist offer. Hopefully it’ll be better this year  In the same boat as you.

Last year has no bearing on this year. UC president Napolitano and Gov. Brown are in a standoff over funding, and she has said she would increase the waitlists and hold enrollment to last year’s levels until it is resolved. It is likely there will be more students taken off the waitlist this year, once the state and UC settle their differences.

Does it matter when you turn in your request to be on the waitlist? is it factored into the decision of whether you’re admitted off the waitlist?

And what if you submitted your SIR already before May 1? They submit waitlist acceptances after that…

You still have to SIR to another school until you hear either way about the waitlist. If accepted you can change your SIR but loose your deposit at the other school. That is the chance you have to take.

Oh I see. I’ll take that chance.

Admissions are weird. I thought I would get flat out rejected by UCLA considering I got waitlisted from UCSD. Plus, UCLA is a lot more selective than the UCSD, yet I got waitlisted lol. Anyways, @Gumbymom‌ why was there only a 6% acceptance rate for UCLA this year (5,700/92,000) compared to the 18% last year? Does this have an effect on the amount of people accepted from the waitlist? Or is 6% not the true percentage of people who were accepted?

It is not a 6% acceptance rate, it is the estimated enrolled rate. UCLA expects to enroll arounf 5200 Freshman but accepts 2-3 times more applicants since not everyone accepted will SIR. Still very selective. Also due to budget issues more applicants were waitlisted but hopefully more will be accepted once the budget issue is resolved.

@niktheslick UCLA accepted ~15,000 applicants this year, so the acceptance rate was around 16%.
