I just got in today: I found the letter, but there's a possibility I was called and just didn't know it.

This is ridiculous.. I get in off Duke waitlist, but no word on UNC waitlist. LOL

^^^lol man...seems like UNC doesnt want you..:p..jk... same thing...i got in to duke too...o well..still waiting for UNC......lol....

Are you guys on the transfer waitlist, or the regular waitlist?

^^^regular.

anyone heard about anything lately?

hey guys i just got a call today from unc saying if i am interested in staying in the waitlist.. i HOPE that means i get in because i was denied my first choice because UVA was over enrolled! :(

I got the same call about a month ago. You are in!!!

Got the same call, UVA.

Are you guys sure? I got the same call and they said they were just making sure if I still wanted to be on the list and they would call me with the final decision within a week or so. If you got off the wait list, you are saying they called you twice?

wow I'm really surprised that there are a few of you who got accepted to Duke and are still waitlisted at UNC.

My buddy just got off of the transfer wait list about a week ago but he had already signed a lease and made commitments at another school so he declined even though he was dead set on CH a few months ago.

Yeah, I declined my spot at UNC and accepted my spot at Duke after calling off my wasted $375 at Emory.

Maybe I was wrong, this seems like a little different phone call. Usually if they take the time to call you then you must be in. I imagine they do still have a few spots left so don't give up hope.

I just got a call today saying that I got in! I am so excited! I applied and was waitlisted and just got the call today which really took me off guard considering that its so late in june. I had totally given up hope so all I can say is don't give up hope because they might call you. Congrats to all who got in. Anyone know where they are going to live?

So, are all of you still regular waitlisters or are some of you transfer waitlisters? Do you think that they are looking at all the transfers together or separately?

I think I have pretty much lost hope. I hope I am one of the surprised lucky ones.

I am a transfer waitlister, I can only assume that the freshman were notified first and the waitlisters notified second. Another possible way of doing it is that the most qualified got notified first and so on down the line. Or it could just be random etc. On a side note, I was called and notified and still haven't gotten an email or a reg. mail. Good Luck to all who haven't heard back yet!

I think there are Two separate groups of admittees....freshman pool and transfer pool....I think they separate the freshies into OSS and ISS and of course have to consider what spots are open...OS spots or IS spots before offering positions. Given the quota system==more IS S spots will open.....6-1 basically.

As I understand it, the transfer pool isnt' limited by your IS or OS status but you are compared with other people in that pool....is that what you guys understand>? hang in there it will come I hope for all of you who REALLY want to be tarheels.

As I posted earlier my friend got accepted off the transfer waitlist last week but is not going to attend next year so they may still be considering the waitlist.

Has your friend alerted them to the fact that he/she won't be attending? That might be helpful for other transfer waitlisters.
