ahh so lucky. where do you live in the US? Are you for sure going? I know someone from my area who got off the waitlist today. I didnt get a call and probably cried for about 4 hours straight, it hit me really hard. Do you know if they gave any info about how many people they gave space to?

Ive sent them emails every week, 2 teacher recommendations, 3 other recommendations, updated grades, multiple letters of desire, an legacy, and flew out to ND to see my admission counselor and visit. I’m trying so hard as ND is my dream school, and knowing that they called today and didn’t accept me was completely heartbreaking. Are they completely done with the waitlist do you know? Ive been praying every day for a miracle.

I’m definitely going. I saw an infograph that they were accepting 35-50 off the waitlist, but that 1400 hundred had responded. I tried to send updates to my application every ten days, and my fencing coach who’s an alumni and was the athlete of the decade for the 80’s wrote me a letter of rec after I was waitlisted. I think they’re doing a round of acceptances, waiting to see how people respond, and then’ll probably do a second smaller one. some people will inevitably be unable to afford the school or their grades will have dropped too much… Don’t give up!

Only because this is one of my petpeeves but since you did get accepted into Notre Dame -
You do know that “councilor” is really spelled “counselor”, right…???

yeah, i saw that infograph also. When i went to visit though they said 1400 were given a place on the waitlist and 800 had accepted it. And of those 800, only 7% were actively pursuing the waitlist. I really hope they do a second round!

Do we know if a phone call is always made to the accepted waitlist candidates? Or could the Fed Ex be sent without a phone call?

Also, could you post where you saw the infograph?

Here is the link to the infograph - <a href=“‘A more qualified pool than ever before’ // The Observer”>http://ndsmcobserver.com/2014/04/qualified-pool-ever/

Also, a few year ago when my son was accepted from the waist list, he did not receive a phone call. He just received his package from Fed Ex.

Sorry Heycow, I had just walked out of my last two finals and my brain was fried. Also, if you don’t mind me asking, did you apply for financial aid? I wasn’t sure if Notre Dame meets 100% of need for the waitlist, so I was wondering how your aid package compared to other schools your son applied too.

And NDgirl24, maybe it’s being delivered? I applied early action and was deferred before being wait-listed, which my counselor mentioned during the call.

My son actually was actually offered a generous financial aid package. It did not meet our need 100% but we were happy with it, especially compared to other schools.

Thanks Heycow! that’s great news. Now just to keep the fingers crossed and wait for the letter. I hope your son is having fun!

Has anyone gotten their FedEx letters yet?

I received my letter on Tuesday the 7th. I also had to commit by the sixteenth, so my guess is that they’ll do a second, smaller round of letters a few days after that. Good luck everyone!

Just spoke to my admissions rep this afternoon and got accepted! He replied to an email I had sent him and asked for a phone number to contact me at and then called with the good news!

@galwaygirl27 OMG CONGRATS IM SO JEALOUS!!! THIS GIVES ME A SMALL CHANCE OF HOPE!

That’s awesome galwaygirl27! also, if you applied for financial aid, you’ll probably get a nice package: most of the schools I applied for gave me 3-4 thousand in loans, while ND gave me 21 thousand in grants and 9 thousand in loans

Does anyone know if ND has closed their waitlist yet??

I got the call that I was pulled off the waitlist on Thursday morning (May 15) and my letter came on Friday. I don’t know if they have closed it yet though

@MileGuy15 congrats!!! Yeah, i figure if they haven’t called me yet my chances are very minimal. Disappointed considering all my displayed interest and all the work I put in while trying to get of the waiting list but at least i tried!

Final notifications are in late June, right?
