Waitlist UCF 2020

may you provide your stats? i am wondering about many people’s stats because i may ask for an expedited decision soon but congratulations! wishing you the best!

congratulations!!! what were your stats by the way?

for ucf-unf people (or anyone that would like to provide some advice), if the commit day can be anytime after may 1st (i am aware the recommended commit date is may 1st though), would it be safer or best to wait it out? would waiting longer after may 1st or so give a better chance of getting off the waitlist for the fall term? i am fine with the summer term too but i originally applied for the fall term and i wonder if it’s a good idea to just wait (i remember one person just waited and got accepted for the fall term) or should i expedite because spaces will start filling in once after may 1st since ucf will have a better number in mind on how many freshmen are admitted whether it’d be summer or fall term?

i am not sure if my questions are making sense so if anyone needs me to reiterate or rephrase then let me know! just pretty nervous and need some advice at the moment.

If I’m reading that right, that is just plain ridiculous!

How do they expect your school to submit a final transcript before the year is finished?

They’re thinking about Florida schools, where we usually wrap up in late May/early June.

I would call back, and ask to speak to a supervisor. They can’t set – and didn’t mean to set – impossible deadlines!

I would also continue to go through with the rest of the process – dorms, orientation, immunization, FAFSA, etc. BTW, for Summer term, you also must have completed FAFSA for 2019-2020…not just the one for 2020-2021.

Hi everyone, today I just checked and I got into the summer term which is completely fine by me. I asked for an expedited decision on Tuesday and they said it could take up to 5 business days but they accepted me 2 days later. I was really nervous about asking for an expedited decision considering my SAT score is extremely low, but everything turned out fine. I applied late October and got wait listed in February so I’m really happy that the wait is all over.

OMG so happy for you! You must feel so relieved that the waiting is all over. May I know your stats so I can see if I have a chance?

She actually finishes her classes in Mid-June but this is New York so the officially last day of school is June 26. Her guidance counselor told me she had never seen such a rule enforced so strictly, especially in light of the COVID crisis. New York hasn’t closed school for the rest of the year but they could. Her guidance counselor is trying to help out. So far this has been a bit of a bumpy road to UCF. ??

If you finish mid-June, maybe your guidance counselor can get your registrar to send the final transcript right away. It can probably be submitted electronically and you’d be fine.

But I would still call UCF Admissions back and ask to speak to someone higher in the food chain. Everybody’s got a boss who is able to make adjustices.

Thank you so much! My stats are

SAT: 1030
UW GPA: 3.6
W: 4.1

Congratulations to all getting accepted! I am still trying to decide whether asking for an expedited decision is the right move or waiting until may 31st. It seems like everyone have been getting accepted from asking for an expedited decision. I just don’t know what the right move is and I don’t want to be to feel like I made the wrong decision if I ask for a expedited decision and don’t get accepted.

What are your stats if you dont mind me asking?

1070 SAT, 21 Dual Enrollment credits at valencia, 3.5 uw 4.0 w

One hopeful sign for folks on the waitlist. Just about all universities are expecting a significant drop-off in actual enrollments as a result of covid-19 and all its related uncertainties. There was a story about it in the Miami Herald today.

A big part of the problem is that people don’t know what the safety level is going to be like in the Fall term. Another is the possibility of Fall 2020 either being online-only, or not being the full college experience people are looking for – including not only in-person classes, but also athletics, extra-curriculars, social activities, etc.

If that decline in actual enrollment DOES actually occur, the financial impact on universities is going to be significant – so they MAY be more relaxed on their admissions criteria than normal. I’m not sure when or how that will show up, but it may help those waiting.

I left out one component of the post above.

In addition to the issues posted, many families have lost jobs or have suffered reduced income because of covid-19 – and may need to take a break from college expenses. The could result in students just not going, or in staying home and attending at local state schools, rather than going away to school.

Tbh I really think you have a chance! Theres people on here with similar SAT scores and similar GPAs that have gotten off the waitlist in just 2 days. And the fact that you have credits from Valencia would probably benefit your application. Its your choice and it is a risky choice but from how things are looking it should be in your favor.

Hi! I’m seeing some people talk about asking for an expedited decision but I haven’t heard of that before. How do you go about asking for one? Is it risky?

You either call or email UCF Admissions and ask for it.

I’ve read posts about “risk,” but I’ve never heard an actual explanation. I guess it’s that they think the criteria will be lowered later.

Its a little risky considering the admissions committee can completely rush over your application since they’re on a time limit. If you ask for expedited decision and they reject your admission then that’s it i believe. Can’t go back on the wait list.

Hi everyone! I’ve been reading this forum for the past few weeks now because I was also waitlisted at UCF. Since I saw quite a few people asking for expedited decisions and getting accepted I decided to give it a shot myself. So yesterday morning I called to request an expedited decision and this evening I checked my portal and thankfully I have been accepted for Fall at UCF. I wanted to share this news in case it helps anyone and I’m rooting for you all and hope everyone here gets in because you all deserve it!

i honestly want the fall term and hearing you get in makes me happy and reassured! i wish you the best! may i ask what your stats are?
