So if there are no available spots for orientation they wont allow us to start on the term that they gave us?
I will let you know what they say. Itâs the weekend now. ? it does not make sense to accept people off the waitlist, only to turn them away. Iâm hoping theyâll just add me.
Orientation is where you choose your classes and schedule? So is there any other time you can do that or only at orientation?
ORIENTATION:
UCF recently changed their orientations for both students (mandatory) and parents (optional, but cheap and a good idea) to 100% ONLINE.
I believe the orientation schedules you are seeing on the website are the old in-person slots â not the current real schedules. I donât think they have organized the new schedules yet.
FWIW, we signed up for both in-person Orientations in mid-February. They were both canceled when UCF went to online orientation. Just last week, we were then asked to re-register for orientation. We are IN orientation, but do not have scheduled time slots yet.
UCF refunded the difference between our in-person orientations and the online orientations automatically without us even asking.
Bottom line: Donât worry about orientation; it will happen.
You are not out any money, and UCF is NOT going to do that to you. Youâre fine.
Congratulations!
Wow thanks that was really reassuring, i really needed to hear that? So are they just going to automatically put admitted students who paid the enrollment deposit in orientation since its virtual now?
No, these are new dates. They sent me an email to sign up for one. Check it out online. https://orientation.ucf.edu/whats_happening/ As stated, it wonât allow me to reserve a session.
When you sign up and pay your fee ($45), Iâm not sure what will happen. With us, it just shows us the dates we had originally registered for (Jun 1-2), but Iâm not 100% sure those are still our dates. Iâm going to recontact the orientation office and see next week.
You are also going to get a long list of additional stuff you need to provide prior to Orientation.
If you dont go to orientation do they revoke your admission?
I canât get to the payment screen. I have to pick a session to do that.
Congrats!! So happy for you. If you donât mind sharing, what are your stats?
That has to be a glitch. Email fye@ucf.edu and ask them. Thatâs the orientation office emailâŠthey call it First Year ExperienceâŠfye.
Guys, youâre gonna be fine, lol. Theyâre not going to just dump you!
RelaxâŠBreathe in, breathe out.
Go Knights, charge on.
Youâre right? Thanks for the reassurance.
Email them if you have any doubt. You can phone them too, but thatâs not as effective as email with Orientation. When you call Admissions, you get staff people who can answer questions; when you call Orientation, you get students who are not nearly as helpful.
So has anyone been offered admission recently that HASNâT requested a expedited decision? itâs really starting to seem like asking for one is the best move I could make but I donât know if spots will open up after may 1st. This is so stressful!
The problem is you donât know how many people are on the waiting list. Someone posted numbers from a previous year on one of these threads, but I forgot what they were.
The thing is, this is NOT a normal year. There have been several news stories about how colleges all over the country are expecting significantly lower enrollments in the fall for several reasons.
One is the fact that many parents have lost their jobs. To give you an idea, the normal national number of new unemployment claims is around 200,000. In the past 4 weeks, 26 MILLION people have filed for unemployment. Thatâs an astronomical number. When somebody in the family loses a job, big adjustments have to be made, and one of the easiest big adjustments to make is staying home from college for a year. That hurts college enrollments. Itâs even to the point that dozens of universities are relaxing their criteria and going âtest-optionalâ in order to attract more applicants.
The other issue is that most schools donât know if they are going to reopen on a full, regular, on-campus basis. Coursework is just one part of college, and if all the other parts are missing many students will not actually show up.
Itâs hard to guess at this point, but those kinds of issues make me think a lot more people might get in off waitlists this year. The problem is, thatâs a guess and nobody really knows for sure.

Well, most people on here in the past week that have asked for an expedited decision has gotten in, only about 2 people havenât. So far I havenât heard of many people getting off without requesting an expedited decision. I took the risk after seeing a lot of people getting in and it worked out in my favor. Itâs different for everyone though depending on your stats and application. Iâve seen people here with extremely high SAT scores and good GPAs get rejected but people with lower SAT scores like me get accepted. So now im not sure what UCF is looking for. If you canât wait I would suggest asking for an expedited decision, but if you donât mind the wait then just hang on. Probably more spots will open after May 1st after people have committed to other schools. The choice is yours though.
Good luck!

Yeah I agree that UCF might be being more lenient with their waitlist this year. I was looking at other forums from past years where most people were saying expedited decisions usually ended up in a rejection so no one took the chance, but this year its as if theyâre accepting a lot of people who expedite their decision.
Hello, I feel relieved knowing that Iâm not the only one. Iâve been waitlisted since feb and Iâm going crazy. Seeing this thread is making me want to request a expedited decision too⊠but Iâm not sure if my stats are good enough.
