an expedited decision can work either way; you can get accepted or you can get denied admission. yes, an expedited decision is requesting for a faster and quicker decision. from my view point of this forum, a majority of people (ranging from low to higher than the low stats) have gotten in; however, we were shocked when i think 2 people got rejected when asking for an expedited decision because they had higher stats than most of us in this forum, hence why i said we can’t fully rely on our stats so make sure your application is overall intriguing to the admission committee.
there are some people (especially me) who applied later than my friends; i applied in late february i believe and got off the waitlist a week ago when i requested an expedited decision. i do think it is very late of you to apply in april (however, ucf is considered rolling admission). i also do not know your chances and if there is a big difference if you applied later than most people and what your decision may be. i personally believed that if i didn’t request before the may 1st deadline, there would be fewer spots available because most people committed by that time and i also think that once the may 31st deadline approaches, the admissions committee might become pickier?? however, there are some people who believe that after the may 1st deadline, there are more spots available now.
it is up to you and your gut feeling on what you want to do! like i said, i am not sure if applying late will negatively affect you but maybe try asking what your parents would do in your situation if they were you?
i just requested an expedited decision so wish me luck!
sad thing is when i asked about my technical college that i was dual enrolled at they told me it’s an unaccredited college so i guess i don’t get an dual credit for it? i hope they still consider it when looking at my application
Your GPA is recalculated based on the academic core courses (including English, math, science, social studies and foreign language). UCF uses a 4.0 grading scale, and also awards additional quality points for any weighted courses within the academic core. Courses marked as pre-AP, pre-IB, pre-AICE and honors are given an additional 0.5 quality point.
Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certification of Education (AICE) and Dual Enrollment (DE) courses are given 1 additional quality point.
@JimDadinmia then they would have a tougher recalculation than UF. I have a hard time believing that. The bottom paragraph says AP/IB/AICE get an additional point. I messaged UCF for clarification so I will let you know. Actually called admissions and I’m 100% right. You get the extra point for all AP/IB/AICE.
i’m waiting to hear back from another college on some financial aid so i decided it’d be better for me to have an acceptance/rejection from ucf sooner rather than later. also influenced by seeing all the people getting accepted in this thread.
