Waitlist UCF 2020

an expedited decision can work either way; you can get accepted or you can get denied admission. yes, an expedited decision is requesting for a faster and quicker decision. from my view point of this forum, a majority of people (ranging from low to higher than the low stats) have gotten in; however, we were shocked when i think 2 people got rejected when asking for an expedited decision because they had higher stats than most of us in this forum, hence why i said we can’t fully rely on our stats so make sure your application is overall intriguing to the admission committee.

there are some people (especially me) who applied later than my friends; i applied in late february i believe and got off the waitlist a week ago when i requested an expedited decision. i do think it is very late of you to apply in april (however, ucf is considered rolling admission). i also do not know your chances and if there is a big difference if you applied later than most people and what your decision may be. i personally believed that if i didn’t request before the may 1st deadline, there would be fewer spots available because most people committed by that time and i also think that once the may 31st deadline approaches, the admissions committee might become pickier?? however, there are some people who believe that after the may 1st deadline, there are more spots available now.

it is up to you and your gut feeling on what you want to do! like i said, i am not sure if applying late will negatively affect you but maybe try asking what your parents would do in your situation if they were you?

My core classes are IB but my school automatically signs you up for the AP Exam so you can get IB credit and AP credit for that one class

also how did someone find their ucf gpa ?

i just requested an expedited decision so wish me luck!
sad thing is when i asked about my technical college that i was dual enrolled at they told me it’s an unaccredited college so i guess i don’t get an dual credit for it? i hope they still consider it when looking at my application

did u call them and say anything else? also good luck!!

Nope. They not only do not weight non-core courses – they don’t count them AT ALL. Copied from the UCF FAQ – bolding is mine.

https://www.ucf.edu/admissions/undergraduate/question/how-is-my-high-school-gpa-calculated-for-admission/

Your GPA is recalculated based on the academic core courses (including English, math, science, social studies and foreign language). UCF uses a 4.0 grading scale, and also awards additional quality points for any weighted courses within the academic core. Courses marked as pre-AP, pre-IB, pre-AICE and honors are given an additional 0.5 quality point.

Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certification of Education (AICE) and Dual Enrollment (DE) courses are given 1 additional quality point.

no not really, i just asked for an expedited decision and was asked for some details to confirm who i was and that was it!

This is a crazy question, but how do you start a new thread on this website?

I think there used to be a button, but I can’t find it. I emailed collegeconfidential, but got no reply.

@JimDadinmia then they would have a tougher recalculation than UF. I have a hard time believing that. The bottom paragraph says AP/IB/AICE get an additional point. I messaged UCF for clarification so I will let you know. Actually called admissions and I’m 100% right. You get the extra point for all AP/IB/AICE.

I don’t know that it’s tougher, just different.

The explanation of points awarded is just bad paragraphing. The sentence above the last paragraph talks about bonus 0.5 for honors, etc.

I also seem to remember that difference being noted in the Admissions talk at the start of our campus tour, but I could be wrong.

Let us know what you find out.

@JimDadinmia I was right. Poorly written so easy to misunderstand. I called admissions directly.

is the button the “ask your question now” button? that seems to be the button to start a new thread

@geonmie what made u decide to go for an expedite decision, just wondering?

i’m waiting to hear back from another college on some financial aid so i decided it’d be better for me to have an acceptance/rejection from ucf sooner rather than later. also influenced by seeing all the people getting accepted in this thread.

good luck! hoping that you get in!

also how did you get ur ucf reclaculed gpa?

call admissions and ask and they’ll be able to tell you what your recalculated gpa is :]

I think I’m going to ask for an expedited decision, should I call or email asking for one?

either way is fine but i think most people said it’s faster and easier to call!

I asked for recalculated gpa by calling and then they said to email, but then when I emailed they said they can’t tell via email
