I didn't ask today, but I asked a month ago. CAS does give gt's, but it's very very very rare. She said they don't give gt's off waitlists, just in the regular decision round.

damnn that sucks hopefully cals is different

Well friends, it seems our best bet is to praise for GT, hopefully. I'm going to ask them about GT tomorrow, whether they will or not offer to waitlister.

It is not a surprise that they took people off the waitlist last year. Please correct if i'm wrong, but wasn't there like a 20% increase of application this year than last year. Now they have so much to choose from. :(.....................

i know goshh why did this year have to be like the most competitive year in the history!! goshh seriously

I was waitlisted for Engineering and I called yesterday to find out some waitlist statistics. I was told that it is highly unlikely they will take anyone off the waitlist due a high matriculation rate.

its weird- i had thought more people would get off teh waitlist this year
because the acceptnace rate was lower, meaning more qualified people were accepted, meaning cornell would lose many of these qualified people to peer ivy league/ top colleges... i guess not.

nop, no GT. no chance for anyone. Damnnnnnnn.

yeah, i called cals and they still werent sure (said to call back on the 15th or 16th) but the woman said that if they even use the waitlist it will be extremely limited. :(

Just called engineering, they said the same thing, highly unlikely anyone will get off the waitlist. Last year over 200 got off the waitlist, this year it seems like it will be in single digits, maybe nobody.

hey kurplunk18 did u ask her about gt? whether they will give out gt's to waitlisted people or not?

no i didnt, but my guess is no (i feel like i heard that somewhere on this site because especially for cals bio, it's just too competitive). I guess we will all find out sooner or later... seems like cornell is really becoming more popular... what a shame (for all of us).

has anybody called and double-checked at CAS?
I'm too scared it's true to do it. and I want to keep the ignorant hope in me alive.

just call. you already think its true (kinda) about not resorting to the waitlist so your "ignorant hope" isnt truthfully justified since its isnt all that ignorant. call and find out and feel better and if it turns out to be true, i am deeply and very honestly sorry. cornell isnt the whole world even if it seems like it now. you should decide to suceed regardless of your surroundings and yea, sure feel beat up about it because you very obviously deserve to be admitted and werent but also take comfort in the very same fact. i dont think its a great idea to look at it negatively thinking "omg, i almost had it, i even made waitllist and then then i screwed up."

i cant relate to you with cornell since i was admitted and before you think about saying, "well then you have no idea what it feels like," i too was waitlisted at my first choice school. i dont even know if that school will be resorting to the waitlist and right now, i dont care so much any more because the thought of where i am going this fall if too comforting to cry about where i'm not.

you were good enough and some reader in ithaca told you otherwise. dont pay attention to him/her too much. you've got too much to look forward to and one of them isnt upstate ny winters (and trust me about the sucky and sporadic weather, i've lived here for a looong time)

i just got an e-mail from hotel school, and they said they would start calling next week. (no later than 19, friday).
Don't loose your hopes folks.................................

i think i've lost hope. ANY news about CALS?

even if arts and sciences doesnt admit anyone, human ec and agriculture may (i really hope, that is)

if any get off cals it will be veryyyy limited as i posted before. (this is what cals admissions told me). they will know more either the 15th or 16th... looks really hopeless though :(

I just called to double check and CAS is not going to the waitlist.

Does anyone know anything about Human Ecology?

yeah, anyone...?
