I believe that everyone who has been taken off the waitlist has been called. On the Harvard admit site, there are already three people (one from India, Texas, and California) who have posted that they got a call last week informing them of their acceptance.

No rejection letter yet. No acceptance either. I wonder if I am in the running for the z-list. hahahaha.

Hey, there's always a chance that some of us are on the z-list. And I doubt the rejection letters are still arriving. I think those of us who haven't heard have survived the process. But then, who listens to me? I'm the optimist. :)

I hope so. I mean providing a rejection letter doesn't show up in my mailbox Monday and the fact that I am not accepted... what other alternatives are there? lol.

Well, Byerly DID say that the WL numbers wouldn't be finalized til June, so I guess we'd be in the running 'til then. That, or we'd be on the z-list. Those are the two options.

Or, it could be the mail arrives slower to wherever you are. No one listens but remember it's best to have no expectations!!

Yes, including the expectation that you will be rejected, which you seem to be so fond of, handscoring.

Surprise! Surprise! I cannot wait to get out of cali as well.
I'm headed for the wonderful town of Williamstown in MA, by the way.

I'm headed for the uncharted wilds of Middletown, CT, where giant five-legged dragons with pink Richard Simmons haircuts roam.

Ok, not really, but it's sure an interesting image. :)

I have no expectations at this point. Having sent in my application in September and having it be like 9-10 months later at this point sort of numbs you to any expectations, nor cares. I'm perfectly happy with where I'm going to school notwithstanding Harvard. I'm just amused more than anything by the whole charade of Harvard admissions by now.

Just checked the mail AAAAAAND...

Nothing. And I'm really more in Central California than in Northern California. I guess anybody else whose mail came up empty is still in the running as well.

Well watch out, I'm in Chicago and just got my rejection letter today. Oh well. I would probably not have chosen Harvard over Georgetown SFS anyway.

rejection letter came today.
cool.

good luck, kids.

Ja, sorry to provide the final bubble bursting, but this article in the Gazette says that the final decisions were made last week. I would think if a person's been accepted they would have called...so we're just waiting out the final rejections at this point.

It's at the bottom of the article: http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2006/05.11/01-yield.html

It says "the final results", which I take to mean the final yield numbers in context of the article (which is about yield). Also, since people have been calling the Harvard office and have posted in here that they say they'll be done this week, that seems to be the more logical interpretation. And, as Byerly has pointed out, the final numbers may not emerge until June, so hang in there.

Anybody got off wait list from MIT and are thinking to turn down Harvard now?

For those who have inside news, how many wait list rejection letters has Harvard sent out so far?

Is Harvard going to do a second calling for the Z-list? I think MIT already finalized all the wait list people this year.

Nothing has been finalized yet; as previously stated by Byerly and talking to friends who were on the Z-list, they told me they weren't notified until mid-June of the fact that they were on the Z-List.

Well, there we are. Nothing to worry about. It's just going to continue until June, so let's all stop expecting defeat.

I know two students who were admitted today. One of them is on the Z-docket. There's still hope for all of you.

Wow, that's gotta be tough, deciding between a school you like less, and deferring a year to go to your top choice....well, better than rejection, I s'pose, so good luck anyway!
