i was waitlisted and i just got my rejection letter on thursday june 22nd. I know that they HAD to give ppl an answer by June 30th the latest, so do you think that means that I was in the last crop of waitlistees? i hear that they put ppl on the z list throughout the summer- is there still any chance for me to be put on the z list, byerly?

Probably slim, but there's nothing wrong with contacting them and indicating your willingness to defer.

Byerly, I haven't received a rejection letter yet. What does that mean? It's possible that it got lost in the mail (or in my house before it got to me) or maybe my "I would like to stay on the waitlist" card was lost. Other than that, though, I don't know why I wouldn't have got anything. I thought all the rejection letters had been mailed already.

Why not call and ask?

ok byerly, i will definitely do that! (I was planning to anyway, but it is the weekend, so I'll have to wait till monday- and I figured advice from you would slightly quell my anxiety)
thanks

good luck! :-D

At this stage, its a reasonable question, and you're entitled to an answer.

byerly, who was that last post directed towards, i wasatypo, or me (harvardplease8) ?... or both?

both .

I just got my waitlist rejection letter today. It was dated two days ago. I suppose I was in the very last batch of waitlistees. I could try to transfer, but I don't think I like the idea of changing schools. I was happy to finally get it, though; I was finally able to put my college decal on my car.

iwasatypo: Perhaps if you still wanted to go to Harvard, you could call and ask about the Z-list, just like Byerly suggested.

It's too late now. The Brown decal already adorns the back window of my car. I can't go anywhere else.

iwasatypo, congrats on brown!! it's an amazing school. i had a hard time turning it down -- it's one of those schools that you fall more and more in love with the more you learn about it.

I wanted to make this thread visible for those who were waitlisted this year.
It is not the end of the world. DD was waitlisted last year. She was still thinking about Harvard when she left for school in the fall, but now she is extremely happy at a state university in their honors program. Make sure you think about your second choice, if you stay on the waitlist. The admissions counselor told my D last spring that she knew she would do well no mater where she ended up. That wasn't what she wanted to hear, but is definately true for all that are waitlisted at H. Good luck to all of you.
