Waitlist

Mcmatt my S is in the same boat as you: applied EA back in the fall to MSB and still waiting....hopefully things will start to happen as people move off HYP waitlists! I don't know if the waiting is bothering him as much as it is me!!Good luck!

any1 get a call from them today? they are mailing out decisions today....

Are they mailing them today or is the committee meeting today?

in my letter it says that "final decisions will be mailed by May 15"

talk about nervous parents, my dad called Gtown today and they said that they are mailing letters today. The letters will say that the student is either admitted, denied or on an extended wait list.

i just got a call--she said that the committee wanted to be sure i was interested in attending
i said definitely yes
and then she gave me my finaid package, the phone number that i could call to negotiate it, and asked me to call back before 12 the next morning
she didn't say YOU'RE OFF the waitlist definitively, but i think it's so?
i'm sooo excited
i wish you all the best of luck!

to anyone who has been called by georgetown admissions...

Have you previously stated interest in attending GT after receiving a spot on the wait list, or was this phone call the first time?

yea... someone answer matt's question.... because all those who have been called have always mentioned the fact that the rep first ASKED if they still had interest? and i kno that a few who were called told me they never sent in additional things after accepting the waitlist.... so is this true for everyone who was called?

btw.... decisions were sent this morning... 3 alternatives... accepted, denied, or extended waitlist ...

also... i was told that waitlist openings were only looked at for SFS and Georgetown college..... not for MSB and NHS...

no fing way..... no MSB??!?!?!! omg.... can any1 verify that?

yeah, if you're really concerned... you should call the admissions office and ask.

i spoke with an admissions officer the other day... and she had told me that they were only looking at waitlist openings for Georgetown SFS and Georgetown College this year....

that is what she told me word for word....

were you MSB? you should probably call to make sure... but that is definitely wat the ad.officer told me.

o that rlly sux... destiny is destiny...

Yeah, I got my first phone call Tuesday morning to confirm my interest in attending and got my second call yesterday just to say I GOT IN!!
Supposedly their first "deadline" of accepting kids was today so I think they'll be making a new wave of calls tomorrow!! She also said they're accepting about 200-300 of the 2000 students on the waitlist.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!! I applied EA, got deferred then waitlisted so it's about time!!

My daughter's friend got in too, and we are so happy for him. Georgetown was really his top choice, and he'll be great there.

What school did you guys get accepted to?

I also spoke with an admissions rep earlier today and was told that they were only accepting students from the College and SFS, I pried to get some definitive numbers and was at first told a "few", and when I kept asking for specifics she said about 40 from each of the two schools. I was also told that were only 900 on the waitlist, and that they offered 2000 people spots, but only 900 accepted. Good luck to everyone.

wow!
which will it be I wonder... 200-300 that will be accepted or only about 40 from each of the two schools...
it's a pretty big difference i guess. (but im trying not to get too optimistic)
good luck everyone-

so does this mean that if we do not get a call by tomorrow, we should assume we got denied (or optimistically placed onto the extended wait list)..?

the numbers in this article seem more consistent w/the 40-40 that tim45 mentioned,

"On Tuesday, Georgetown mailed its first waitlist acceptance letters, admitting 80 people from the waitlist to reach the target of 1,580 first-year students."

I really hope i'll be getting a letter soon!!!!!!!!!!!

o so well, since they were mailed out on tuesday, if u live around the surrounding states of DC u should have a letter by now if you are accepted, so if you didnt get a letter that means u are rejected or on the extended waitlist.... I didnt get one and I live in New Jersey... so i'm most likely on the extended or rejection group. =(

i am on extended waitlist... i sent nothing in, told my school not to send a transcript, but i will stay on the waitlist just because i am an a-hole and i want them to call me and then i will be like HELLZ NO INSTATE TUITION FTW. or something.

i'm in northern va, btw.
