i am not personally attacking any one, but i hate it when people either a.) stay on waitlists or b.)don't pull their applications if they've signed w/another school(athletes) or c.) any way in which people remain an applicant to a school where they have no intention of going. it screws it up for the rest of us! i took myself off the u chicago waitlist b/c i decided i didn't want to go there, it wasn't right for me, and if by some fluke they did call me, i didn't want to delay them calling someone whose dream school was chicago. get over yourselves! make peace with your decision and move on! if you're going to spend your whole life filling up a trophey case just forget it, it's a waste of time, and a perfect way to waste a life.

i totally agree. I pulled myself off the WashU, Northwestern, and Amherst wait list because I knew I only wanted to go to Georgetown or one of my accepted schools.

extended waitlist..........the horror, the horror, just kidding--looks like i'm probably going to george washington.....

if you did not receive a letter yet and you live somewhere in the surrounding states, i don't think it definitively means anything. i was admitted via the phone on thursday, but i haven't received an actual letter yet.

lol, why can't i stay on the waitlist? maybe if georgetown decides to offer me 30 000 i might seriously reconsider, though i doubt that's gonna happen. this whole process is unfair anyway and it's not like i'm tricking them by demonstrating actual interest other than saying i'll stay on a list. i won't take up anyone else's spot in the school anyway.

i never got a call and I haven't received a letter yet of the waitlist decision. what could this possibly mean?

Same here...

I got my first call on Tuesday, second conformational call on Wednesday and just got my acceptance letter today, Saturday.
So I dunno about those who didn't get either a call nor a letter...I wouldn't worry though considering G-town's infamous lack of communication abilities...

how big is the extended waitlist... is it worth it?

Did everyone who was rejected from the waitlist get that little comment about transferring next year?

i got the extended wait list, but since my chances are slim i've been thinking about transfering...what did your note say?

Dear Jeydomz,

Thank you for your interest in remaining on the Waiting List for freshman admission. I am sorry to tell you that it will not be possible to offer you a place at Georgetown this year.

Due to the exceptionally large number of students who accepted our offer of admission this year, the Committee was able to consider only a small number of candidates from the Waiting List. While this must be viewed as a final decision, it would be possible for you to apply as a transfer student in a future year should your interest in Georgetown continue to be strong. While we cannot guarantee transfer admission, should your record of academic and extracurricular success continue in college, we do anticipate that you would be viewed as an especially strong candidate at that time.

Please accept our best wishes for your future success as you pursue your further education. Your continued interest in Georgetown is very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Charles A. Deacon
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

Was that a letter or an e-mail? Also, when did you get it?

Yah, I haven't gotten my letter either, but I'm not even expecting the extended wait list because I applied to MSB.

It was a letter, dated May 15. Received Saturday.

bummer, jeydomz.

I know mcmatt asked already but does anyone know anything about the extended waitlist, for instance, the size or chances?

i'm in the same boat gdalepolo. i'm guessing they will lose 15 max. due to attrition. it just depends how many kids who said yes (to gtown) get off some other school's waitlist. i'm thinking about keeping in mind transferring when I pick my classes for the fall, just to make sure i don't have to redo a bunch of courses, go in the summer, etc.

georgetown looks like it's taking around 100 kids off the waitlist:
