congrats. While I can’t speak for Emory, I have to believe that it is not binding since it has conditions. Thus, you could apply to transfer elsewhere while knowing that Emory as a lock (assuming you meet the conditions).

Its strange why other people on the waitlist did not receive any kind of notification. They should at least inform people whats going on. But then again the person in the admissions office said that the waitlist might be underway even until August…

^Did they not notify you about being placed on an extended wait list?

“Its strange why other people on the waitlist did not receive any kind of notification.”

Acoording to CC, last year, the final notification came in July. Interesting twist with the GT for 2010; wonder if most of you are full pays that were offered the option…just curious…

My EFC was around 20 grand and i was offered the transfer, if that helps.

^^^No 299, they did not tell me anything, did you get an email? I need to call them tomorrow. I dont know why was I ignored like this, did everyone else receive the decisions? If I am on the extended waitlist, they would have told me. If I am Not, then dont I deserve to know the answer anyway?

yes i agree i have not heard anything from them in a while. not even an email.

Hey Stanford 09.

Sorry man, but Emory did send out e-mail notifications about the extended wait list…
Give Emory a call, perhaps there was a communication error?
Hope for the best man. Did you get offers from anywhere?

uuughghghhgh…I discovered this on Emory’s watlist FAQ page:

“Thank you for your continued interest in Emory. We regret to inform you that Emory’s Class of 2013 is full. You will receive correspondence via US mail regarding our cancelation of the waitlist. We wish you the best of luck.”

well, I guess not receiving an e-mail means that when the regular mail comes I should not expect anything.

stanford:

Perhaps you didn’t receive the mass e-mail bcos you were accepted to Oxford?

well, I do not know why would that be the case. I have been receiving stuff even after that from Emory. And they also said Oxford did not affect chances on waitlist in any way, I dont know why would it affect mailing. I should have gotten something.

stanford maybe you will get the letter in the mail. I didnt get an email either, but today I got a letter in the mail offering me a place on the extended waitlist.

^ fn18, are you serious? well I guess I should wait for the letter to come. I called the office today and they said they were already sent. I should probably receive it this week. In any case, I suggest that we all keep our hopes down - I have been disappointed several times already and dont want to add something new.

Were there extended WL offers without the transfer option? Just curious.

Yes, I received that kind of offer today. I mean I can call it an offer, they said if I want to be on the extended WL I have to write a letter to them and let them know. They did not automatically offer the positions though. The letter itself was very vague and definitely nothing encouraging. I think there is only a “remote possibility” that additional places might become available during summer - I am willing to stay to the end, nevertheless.

You’ll end up at Emory either way. You’re going to Oxford right?

Yes, I am there but the main campus atmosphere is definitely more for me. Plus, I will be closer with everyone I know and there will be less problems staying in touch. I am tired of this process already.
