WAITLISTED APPLICANTS Class of 2019

Dear nikomalingo : What school did you eventually choose? Given your interest in Vllanova, Boston University, and Penn State, it would be interesting to see which CSOM alternative attracted your attention.

Granted, BC has the best bschool out of them, however, I don’t really know much about the school. Along with that, I didn’t want to go to BC school soley based on its prestige.

Dear nikomalingo : Understood that you believe the Boston College CSOM proposition was more prestige based despite not knowing much about the school per your post last evening. (Post #261)

Which college did attract your interest? You have posted on College Confidential seeking input regarding Villanova, Boston University, and Penn State. Given some of the controversy in this thread regarding ACT scores, application credentials, and your Boston College Wait List acceptance into CSOM, it would be interesting to understand which school was a better match for your interests and background. Please do let us know. Good luck and all the best.

I have been following all of your posts and am thankful for your input! My daughter was accepted off of the waitlist on Friday, May 15th and must post her decision by May 20th. For those of you who have been taken off of the waitlist, how long did it take you to receive financial information? I have confirmed that the financial aid office has our documents but also that it may take up to 2 weeks to receive this information. We are beyond thrilled but just not sure if we will be able to afford this. Thank you in advance :slight_smile: Also praying for the rest of the group that they are taken off the waitlist!

@hopefulBCmom: Congrats to your d! Can you please tell me what school she applied to and please post your final decision if you will accept offer, thanks and good luck.

@hopefulBCmom

Our daughter was accepted off of the waiting list on May 13. She was given until tomorrow, May 20, to put down her deposit. She DEFINITELY wanted to go - Boston College has been her absolute first choice all along, and she was beyond ecstatic to be accepted. (She has no qualms about being in a forced triple, and joked that she’d camp out in the hallway if necessary!) So, we kept waiting on the financial aid award to be uploaded to the portal. Nothing…I asked DevlinHall on here, and I was told that it would likely be early this week. So, I contacted the office directly Monday morning (yesterday) explaining that we really could not make a decision until we had a financial award. I contacted our daughter’s financial aid counselor (found her name on the counselors list on the website) directly via email requesting that we hear something by noon today, even if briefly. And then I ended up making another call to the office today. The counselor was very helpful and prepped a financial aid award document for our daughter, attached it to an email, and sent it along. This was shortly after noon today. Once we got it, we knew that we could commit to our daughter going to Boston College. Phew. Then, we paid down the deposit. After so much waiting, and then more waiting, things feel kind of good right now. :slight_smile: Incidentally, the award is still not uploaded on the portal yet the last I checked. Good luck and God bless!

@Liana330 @hopefulBCmom did BC meet your full need off the waitlist? Thank you!

@andrewkg96

When I made my initial call to the staff person in the financial aid office (the one who puts you through to your financial aid counselor), I asked “does coming off of the wait list affect any aid you might receive?” (something like that)…and she cheerily answered “Nope!” So, no worries there!

As far as our personal situation, our full need was met, with just two small student loans which my daughter’s outside scholarship money will wipe out. Being on the wait list didn’t change anything. We were very pleased with the offer.

Good luck and God bless!

@massMom2015 @Lianna330 @andrewkg96 Thank you for your encouragement and information. We too were thrilled to be acceptend off the waitlist so my d also has no issue with the forced triple. We did get a financial award after many calls to the financial aid office today I must say that the financial aid office staff are wonderful and very patient with anxious parents such as ourselves :slight_smile: We too were very pleased with our offer. I would not say that our entire financial need was met but we are in a position to make this happen for our daughter. By this I mean that BC did not provide dollar matching up to our EFC but a very generous award given our wait list status. BTW my d will be attending CAS and she has officially accepted her position tonight! We are so happy and can sleep well tonight. I was so afraid that we would have to decline this opportunity! God Bless!

@hopefulBCmom

That is WONDERFUL! Sounds like it worked out very well for you, too. We know exactly what you feel like right now!!! :smiley:

@whr2go15

While my daughter was going through her housing survey today (once we deposited for her enrollment), I noticed that there was a section that referenced that a student could officially claim a medical/psychological/physical issue that would affect his/her housing needs. (I don’t remember the specifics as we skipped that part). You might be able to call and see if your child could “officially” be excused from the possibility of a forced triple due to her physical need (might need a doctor’s note…hmmmm). Just a thought! Might help. God bless and good luck!

Congratulations to the new Eagles. Trust me, once you complete orientation, you’ll immediately see why the ‘wait’ was worth it.

Wondering if this week will bring a round three…

@Mom613 Not sure, but still waiting optimistically for a chance also…best to you!

@Massmom2015, your perseverance and positive outlook are so admirable, your D is very, very lucky to have you for a mother. So hoping that she gets in.

@collegecarla Thanks so much for your support and all of the CC’s that have given encouragement throughout this process, it really means so much. I’m truly happy for those who were chosen to become future Eagles and my family can only hope that my d has a chance as well. Without the kindness and support by you and fellow CC’s the possibilities would seem insurmountable…

Praying for a round 3!! BC has been my dream school for as long as I can remember. Congrats to those who have been accepted, Boston College is amazing! If anyone hears about another round please post on here :slight_smile: thank you and good luck!

@midp3259 Not sure if there will be another round…getting close to the end of May not a good sign…only DevlinHall208 knows at this point…good luck to you also!

@DevlinHall208 any comment?! :smiley:

@DevlinHall208 Is there a third round?
