I literally don't know what to do now. I was waitlisted by both of my top choices. I got into a couple of my safeties and I like one of them but my heart lies with my top choices? In all honesty, what are the chances of me getting into one of those 2 schools and should I just forget about it and submit a deposit to one of my safeties. I'm so confused :(.

Yes, you need to put a deposit down on one of your safeties if you want to be sure you’re going to college in the fall. If you later get off a WL, then you will likely lose your deposit. To see WL data, google the CDS for each school.

There should be no confusion. For practical purposes, treat the WLs as functional rejections. Make your best decision on the remaining schools which have accepted you. If a miraculous WL offer comes in later, re-evaluate. Otherwise, you life continues. Absolutely no rational confusion should beset you. I get the emotions of rejection and disappointment but don’t let that cloud your rational judgment.

Definitely make a deposit at a school you would be happy to attend. Accept your place on the waitlists- I assume these are UVA and W&M - and, if allowable, express continued interest and perhaps have your GC call to say you would definitely attend (fill in your first choice) if accepted. Good luck!
